UNDIP, Semarang (October 7, 2025) – To enliven its 68th Anniversary, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held several events, one of which was a band competition for staff and students. The 68th UNDIP Anniversary Band Competition, themed “Love Indonesia,” took place at the Prof. Soedarto, S.H. Hall, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The competition aimed to nurture musical talent and creativity while fostering national pride and enthusiasm. It was open to staff members, including both lecturers and education personnel, as well as students. Each participating band performed one self-written or rearranged mandatory song expressing love for Indonesia, as well as one free-choice song.
The competition was officially opened by the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who struck a drum to signal the start, boosting the excitement among participants and the audience. In his opening remarks, UNDIP Rector emphasized that amid the university’s busy academic activities, such as conferences and research, the academic community still needs space to express itself through art.
Quoting the words of Buya Hamka, Prof. Suharnomo said, “With knowledge, life becomes more directed; with faith, life becomes a blessing; and with art and culture, life becomes more beautiful.” He added that art helps balance the mind by harmonizing logic and emotion. He also expressed hope that campus musical activities would continue to thrive through regular Friday afternoon performances around the Art Center and the Widya Puraya fountain area, so that academic enthusiasm can go hand in hand with creativity, passion, and joy, making campus life more beautiful and meaningful.
Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Chairperson of the 68th UNDIP Anniversary Band Competition Committee, Dr. Budiyono, S.KM., M.Kes., warmly welcomed participants and attendees.
