UNDIP Establishes Strategic Cooperation with the Tanjungpinang City Government

UNDIP, Semarang (December 1, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) and the Tanjungpinang City Government officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of education and human resource development and training, development planning, research and development, and community service. The signing ceremony was held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus.

This agreement serves as the foundation for both parties to strengthen strategic collaboration to improve the quality of human resources and regional development. The scope of cooperation includes the provision of training and competency enhancement for regional government officials, the preparation of data- and science-based policy analyses, the development of innovations in the public service sector, as well as collaborative research and community service programs relevant to the needs of Tanjungpinang City.

The Mayor of Tanjungpinang City, H. Lis Dermansyah, S.H., stated that this cooperation marks a vital momentum to strengthen the foundation of regional development. “Tanjungpinang is moving forward rapidly, and we need the support of a strong university like UNDIP to build competent human resources, prepare more responsive development planning, and present concrete solutions to various regional challenges. We hope this partnership will run constructively and provide tangible benefits for the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., emphasized UNDIP’s commitment to delivering contributions that are not only academic in nature but also have a direct impact. “UNDIP is very open to collaborating with local governments, including the Tanjungpinang City Government. We have experience and capacity across various fields, including environmental management, water technology, waste management, and healthcare, as well as strengthening the marine and fisheries sectors. We are committed to ensuring that scientific knowledge can serve as a solution to development challenges,” he explained.

On this occasion, both parties also discussed the potential for further cooperation, including strengthening strategic regional sectors, improving public service quality, and empowering communities through innovative cross-faculty and cross-unit programs at UNDIP.

Through the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration between the Tanjungpinang City Government and UNDIP will soon generate concrete programs whose benefits can be directly felt by the community. Both parties are committed to strengthening synergies in human resource development, research and development planning, and community service, thereby supporting the sustainable development of Tanjungpinang City.
