UNDIP, Semarang (December 19, 2025) – The Faculty of Engineering has once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment. Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., has received the prestigious 2025 Science and Technology Award from the Indonesia Toray Science Foundation (ITSF), a distinguished institution supported by the Japanese technology company Toray Industries.
This award is the highest form of recognition for Indonesian researchers who have made significant contributions to advancing science and technology. With this achievement, Prof. Jamari has established himself as one of the Indonesian researchers who has played an important role in advancing health technology in the country.
Prof. Jamari earned this award through his research on the development of a dual mobility total hip prosthesis, an artificial hip joint that offers a superior range of motion. Through this innovation, he developed an implant that provides excellent mobility, stability, and durability.
In his research, Prof. Jamari designed an artificial hip joint that enables its users to perform salat, the Islamic prayer routine, comfortably. With this technology, he demonstrates how innovation can not only improve human quality of life but also respect the cultural and spiritual practices of Indonesian society.
As a professor, Prof. Jamari actively develops technological breakthroughs through the laboratory he leads, the UNDIP Bio-Mechanics and Engineering Research Centre (UBM-ERC). In this laboratory, he and his team develop various innovative health technology products, ranging from orthotic shoes and tribology-based therapeutic jackets to intelligent healthcare assistant robots.
In the future, it is hoped that the products resulting from the research of the Faculty of Engineering’s academics can be mass-produced and readily accessible to the public. This innovation aligns with the Faculty of Engineering’s vision to continuously deliver tangible benefits to community welfare. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Faculty of Engineering Team)
