UNDIP, Semarang (2/3) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP UNDIP), reaffirmed its commitment as a globally oriented faculty by organizing the International Student Gathering 2026 themed“The Orange Harbor: Anchoring Global Cultures at Diponegoro.” The event served as a warm, inclusive, and vibrant cross-cultural meeting space.
The event opened with a captivating performance of the Gambang Semarang dance, presenting local cultural wisdom as a welcoming symbol for international students. The program was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, who expressed appreciation and pride for the presence of students from various parts of the world.
“Welcome and thank you to everyone who has come, from west to east. You have made this faculty more vibrant. Not only do we have local students, but also international students from various countries who enrich the academic and cultural dynamics at FISIP,” he stated.
On this occasion, the Dean also introduced students from each country and the study program coordinators within FISIP UNDIP, emphasizing comprehensive academic support and guidance for all students, both domestic and international.
The event was attended by the academic community of FISIP UNDIP and 20 international students currently studying at the faculty. These students came from Russia, Germany, Vietnam, Madagascar, Pakistan, China, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Gambia, and are enrolled in undergraduate Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, and Doctoral Program in Social Sciences.
The international atmosphere grew even stronger when students from Russia performed traditional songs and dances. They also introduced various aspects of Russian culture, including traditional food, dance, customs, and attire. Attendees even had the opportunity to taste dishes brought directly from Russia, making the session not only informative but also interactive and engaging.
Equally interesting, students from Vietnam and Madagascar performed traditional songs from their respective countries, enriching the musical diversity and strengthening global camaraderie.
During a sharing session about their experiences in Indonesia, international students expressed positive impressions of studying at FISIP UNDIP. Many of them mentioned their appreciation for Indonesian cuisine, known for its rich flavors. Some also highlighted that Indonesia, particularly the city of Semarang, is a safe and comfortable place to study and live. The event continued with a communal meal filled with warmth and togetherness. Students enjoyed the dishes provided, reflecting a spirit of unity beyond cultural boundaries.
The gathering concluded with an interactive Kahoot game, bringing joy and excitement as a memorable close. Through the International Student Gathering 2026, FISIP UNDIP once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening international networks and providing an educational experience that is not only academically excellent but also culturally enriching.
