Commemorating Nuzulul Qur’an, UNDIP Campus Mosque Presents Gus Ghafur

UNDIP, Semarang (14/3) – Every year, the Universitas Diponegoro’s Campus Mosque (Maskam UNDIP) regularly organizes various activities to enliven the holy month of Ramadan. One of them is theNuzulul Qur’an commemoration, featuring Dr. KH. Abdul Ghofur Maimoen, Lc., M.A., popularly known as Gus Ghafur. He is the caretaker of Al-Anwar Islamic Boarding School in Rembang, the son of the late prominent scholar KH. Maimoen Zubair, and the brother of Taj Yasin Maimoen, the Vice Governor of Central Java.

The event was held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Maskam UNDIP prior to the Tarawih prayer. It was attended by UNDIP leaders, the mosque’s Takmir board, and members of the Tarawih congregation, predominantly UNDIP students. The audience showed great enthusiasm for Gus Ghafur’s sermon, delivered in a clear, straightforward style that made it easy to understand.

In his sermon, he explained that Ramadan serves as a form of tarbiyah (education) to cultivate good habits and enhance piety. During this month, Muslims are trained in self-discipline, patience, and spiritual growth through consistent acts of worship.

“Among the lessons we can take are increasing our recitation of the Qur’an, performing sunnah prayers, giving charity, speaking kindly, and more. The hope is that a Muslim becomes more pious and develops a stronger spiritual connection with Allah SWT,” concluded Gus Ghafur. (Public Communication/UNDIP/AKS, ed. As3)
