Undip Developed Bionic Hand for the Disabled in Central Java

Faculty of Engineering Diponegoro University through CBIOM35 in collaboration with the Central Java Social Service gave mechanic hand to 27 of disabled in Central Java, on Monday (23/9) in Social Service of Central Java Hall. This event was attended by Vice Rector of Communication and Business Undip Dr. Darsono, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Agung Wibowo, Head of PT. CBIOM3S Undip Dr. Rifki Ismail, Plt., Head of Social Service of Semarang Yusadar, S.H and staff, and also 27 of disabled in Central Java.

 

Dipenogoro University as a research university in reaching the World Class University, has a reseach centre of health technology that is called Center for Biomechanics, Biomaterials, Biomechantronics and Biosignal Processing (CBIOM3S). For the last four years, CBIOM3S has developed health technology product, those are: bionic hands, mechanical hand, club foot therapy for baby,  braces for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee joints, artificial feet, Parkinson’s disease diagnosis tools, exoglove for stroke patients, and others.

The Dean of Faculty of Engineering in his speech said that the hand over of mechanical hands for people with disabilities was the invention from the CBIOM3S study center in Faculty of Engineering Undip. This invention could be useful for the community, which is a collaboration with the Social Service and P3D Semarang.

“We thanked to all parties who have facilitated this activity, hopefully the research conducted by Faculty of Engineering Undip can give benefits for all people and become charity for all of us,” concluded Prof. Agung.
