UNDIP, New Delhi, India (August 3, 2025) — Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to affirm its commitment to building a strong international academic reputation. From July 30 to August 1, 2025, UNDIP’s Vice-Rector IV and Expert in Digital Democracy, Dr. Wijayanto, M.Si., had the honor of serving as Chair at the Summer School of Political Communication held in New Delhi, India.
The event was initiated by Professor Taberez Ahmed Neyazi, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore (NUS), which ranks 8th globally according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings. Prof. Taberez also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Press/Politics (IJPP), the fourth-highest-impact-factor journal in the field of political communication.
Prof. Taberez personally invited Dr. Wijayanto. “He asked me to share insights from my IJPP article on cyber troops and influence operations in Indonesia. Apparently, the article made a strong impression on him. I realized how impactful a single publication can be—this is the real power of a high-impact journal, which led to my invitation to New Delhi,” said Dr. Wijayanto.
During the event, Dr. Wijayanto also held discussions with Prof. Taberez on potential collaboration with NUS, including joint research initiatives and institutional benchmarking. Prof. Taberez responded positively and encouraged a proposal focused on knowledge exchange to ensure mutual benefit between both institutions. He also recommended contacting the NUS provost to establish communication further.
In addition, Dr. Wijayanto explored collaborative opportunities with Prof. Adrian Rauchfleisch from the Graduate Institute of Journalism at National Taiwan University (NTU), which ranks 68th globally in the 2025 QS WUR. Prof. Rauchfleisch welcomed the initiative and expressed his willingness to serve as a guest lecturer at UNDIP, particularly on topics related to political communication.
“This visit holds strategic value in UNDIP’s efforts to improve its academic reputation in the World Class University ranking. Based on QS data, India is the second-largest contributor of academic reputation votes for UNDIP, after Malaysia. Attending this summer school—alongside 11 professors from India and more than 30 students from Indian and international universities—offered significant exposure for UNDIP,” Dr. Wijayanto added.
UNDIP’s active participation in global academic forums like this reflects the university’s commitment to building international networks, expanding research collaborations, and fostering cross-border knowledge exchange. This initiative aligns with UNDIP’s vision of being a dignified, impactful, and globally recognized university. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Jejak)
