Another impact of Undip Team’s innovation is supporting disabled people with amputation of hands and paralyzed hands to be able to live independently, work again and earn income to support their families.

Rifky said that the award does not only refer to the innovation, but also regarding the acquisition of patents, the ability to commercialize and the socio-economic impacts are important considerations. “The usage and benefit for community are as important as the discovery itself”, added Rifky Ismail.

The awarding ceremony for Indonesian Innovation Award in category of Innovative Higher Education was held in Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo Auditorium, BJ Habibie Building, 3rd floor of Central Jakarta on Tuesday (10/11/2020), followed by an annual exhibition in commemoration National Technology Resurrection Day 2020. When giving a speech at the opening of 2020 Inovasi Indonesia Expo (I2E), President Joko Widodo stated that innovation is the energy to create change, innovation is a solution to solve problems and innovation is the spirit to win the competition. Therefore, President Joko Widodo hoped that the awarding of I2E will be an encouragement to create conducive ecosystem for research and to produce innovative works.

The President hopes that the collaboration will occur so that the innovators’ works will not be limited to prototypes, but can be continued to mass production as commercial investment. He believes that innovation is created not only to solve problems in society, but also to provide higher value to national economy growth, including the development of employment.
