Currently, Indonesia is facing global challenges and technological advances. The pandemic is driving the world’s acceleration towards the digital era. Today’s graduates are not sufficiently equipped only with technological skills, but are also required to master the international language of English to compete at a global level. The goal is to build a network at the national level to the international level. To prepare graduates who are ready to compete globally, Diponegoro University (Undip) has an international class program, namely IUP (International Undergraduate Program).
The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) is designed as a special class with English as a medium of communication in all activities on campus. The IUP class is designed to produce graduates who are globally competitive and provide the widest possible opportunities for prospective national and international students.
In an interview on Tuesday (26/4/2022), Dr. Bambang Cahyono, M.S., as the Head of the Center for Admission and Education Promotion at Diponegoro University, explained that currently, Diponegoro University has 15 study programs that have opened international classes, namely the Law Study Program (Faculty of Law), Accounting, Management, and Economics Study Programs (Faculty of Economics and Business), Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Urban and Regional Planning Study Programs (Faculty of Engineering), as well as English Literature Study Program (Faculty of Humanities).
The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences opens international classes for 4 study programs, namely Communication Science, Business Administration, Governance Science and Public Administration. For the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, there are 2 study programs for international classes, namely Biology and Chemistry. Study programs that open international classes are those that have international accreditation. Of the 15 study programs that have opened international class programs, 13 study programs have been internationally accredited. The 2 following study programs will be internationally accredited in 2022.
Furthermore, Bambang Cahyono explained that the learning system that was applied was Outcome-Oriented Learning (OBE), an approach to the education system and learning method where the outcomes were the focus and the results could be seen from the learning process, for example student achievement at the end of lectures and the quality of graduates. There is no doubt that the quality of Diponegoro University graduates are graduates who are widely absorbed by the workforce, as evidenced by Undip being ranked first in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia Ranking 2022 version, the world university ranking agency which has released a row of the best universities in the world for the “Graduate Employability Rankings 2022” category. This category selects universities that have succeeded in producing competent graduates with high job prospects or graduates who are ready to work.
“Especially with the international class of the IUP for bachelor degree, the quality of graduates will be excellent and globally competitive,” he said. Graduates of the IUP program have the opportunity to get a double degree from Undip and outside universities that have collaborated with Undip.
Registration for the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) is open from March 8 – May 9, 2022. The exam materials include the Scholastic Potential Test (TPS) including Figural, Verbal, Logic, Numerical, as well as the Diponegoro English Test (Prediction TOEFL) and Interview in English.
