UNDIP, Semarang (August 11, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro’s Library Unit (UPT Perpustakaan) and UNDIP Press were recognized as one of six publishers best complying with Law No. 13/2018 on the Legal Deposit of Printed and Recorded Works.
The award was presented at the Legal Deposit Workshop organized by the Jawa Tengah Provincial Archives and Library Office on Monday (August 11, 2025). The law requires publishers to submit their printed and recorded works to the National Library and provincial libraries. The goal is to preserve the nation’s intellectual heritage, build a national collection, and ensure public access to works for education, research, and cultural purposes. The award also serves as a recognition of publishers’ efforts in safeguarding the nation’s cultural heritage.
The award was formally handed over by Jawa Tengah Literacy Ambassador Nawal Arafah Yasin to Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom., Head of the Library Unit and Press at UNDIP.
In her remarks, Nawal expressed hope that the recognition would motivate publishers to take action.
“Publishers are at the forefront for writers and readers in providing quality reading materials. This award serves as a driving force for publishers to continue producing high-quality works. They play a crucial role in fostering literacy spaces, especially for young people,” Nawal said.
Head of UNDIP’s Library Unit and UNDIP Press, Suwondo, noted that the award reflects UNDIP’s commitment not only to education and research but also to legal compliance and cultural preservation.
“UNDIP Press consistently produces scientific works and textbooks that are useful and contribute directly to enriching national and regional collections, ensuring that the wider public in Jawa Tengah can access the knowledge generated,” he said. (ANF)
