The XX AUG is a prestigious biennial sporting event involving athletes from universities from ASEAN member countries starting from July 24 to August 7, 2022, in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. A total of 23 sports are contested in this event.

Rezza Octavia’s international achievements certainly add to the ranks of young athletes who make Indonesia as well as Undip to be proud of her win in prestigious events at student sports parties throughout the Southeast Asia Region. Thus she is more confident after winning 2 gold medals previously at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam last May.

In the Recurve Individual Women number in 2022 AUG, Rezza shared her experiences, especially the challenges when competing, “The weather in Thailand was very hot which caused overheating and my concentration dropped,” she said (Wednesday, August 3). However, she was not discouraged and managed to beat the representative athlete of Malaysia named Mashayikh Syaqier. Meanwhile, for the Recurve Mixed Team, she competed against a team from Singapore. She also shared her key to success, “I did training diligently and as for the match I played it seriously but with the mindset that it is a game. Do it happily.”

Rezza Octavia, the Undip student who entered Undip in 2018 through the Selection of Excellent Students with Achievement (SBUB), once mentioned her interest in choosing a Marine Science study program. “Since I don’t quite like to study in a classroom for a long time, I choose Marine Science as my major. It has many practices in the field and it’s fun,” she said.

Overall, Indonesia is in third place with a total of 119 medals. The 119 medals consisted of 43 gold medals, 38 silver medals, and 38 bronze medals from 10 fields of sports which were participated by a contingent of Indonesian students.
