UI Greenmetric collaborates with 17 universities in Indonesia, one of which is Diponegoro University, holding an Online Course with the theme of “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Practice in Indonesia” on September 8 – December 22, 2022. This online course was first held specifically for Indonesian students. In the previous year, an online course was held internationally involving UI Greenmetric collaboration with six universities from six countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Hungary, Indonesia, Tunisia, and The United Arab Emirates.
This online course is officially opened on Thursday, September 8, 2022 online at 14.00-17.00 WIB through a Zoom meeting. The opening of the online course began with remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari as Chair of UI Greenmetric. Prof Riri said that having a common goal of learning about SDGs best practices and immediately putting them into practice to create a better Indonesian economy in the future, will help us and strengthen our steps to reach the top six in the world economy by 2045. Thus the online course is very important as a forum for Indonesian students to learn more and sharpen their knowledge and thinking skills related to the practice of SDGs in Indonesia.
The next speech was delivered by the National Coordinator of the UI Greenmetric World University Ranking Network (UIGWURN), Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambariyanto, M.Sc who is also the Vice Rector IV of Diponegoro University. In his speech, Prof. Ambariyanto stated that this online course activity has been endeavored to be carried out as well as possible to provide experiences for students in education outside the study program. Prof. Ambariyanto also mentioned that together with the presence of the SDGs, we must move together to achieve common goals, and so that students who take this online course are able to play an active role in implementing the SDGs and be able to expand their networks.
During the opening of the online course, short speeches were also delivered from the Rectors or Vice Rectors representing the Rectors from 13 universities as an expression of support for the implementation of this online course, including Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M. Hum., Rector of Diponegoro University. Prof. Yos Johan Utama expressed his gratitude and pride for Undip’s involvement in the collaboration in organizing the SDGs Practice online course in Indonesia.
Entering the introduction session for the implementation of the online course, the Vice Chair of UI Greenmetric for Programs, Communication, and Cooperation, Dr. Junaidi, MA, explained the ins and outs of the online course lecture sessions that will be followed by the participants including lecture modules, schedules, class divisions, and the tools used for lectures. A detailed explanation of the equipment used was delivered by Iwan Juwana, Ph.D from ITENAS Bandung, as the National Coordinator of the UI Greenmetric Online Course. Iwan Juwana explained how to use the Moodle application.
Several Undip lecturers were involved in the UI Greenmetric Online Course, namely Rukuh Setiadi, S.T., MEM., Ph.D., Prof. Dr.Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, S.T., M.T., MPS, and Dessy Ariyanti, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. These three Undip lecturers were involved in online courses as university coordinators and lecturers for lecture materials. Several Undip students are also registered as participants in this online course. Besides Undip, there are 16 other universities that participated in this event including Padjadjaran University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Syiah Kuala University, Telkom University, Pattimura University, Palangka Raya University, Lampung University, Surabaya State University, Bandung National Institute of Technology, Samratulangi University, Gadjah Mada University, University of Pancasila, Jakarta State Islamic University, Sebelas Maret University, Sriwijaya University, and Muhammadiyah University of Malang.
