Semarang – Central Java (2/12). Another proud achievement was made by Diponegoro University (Undip) students. Undip students successfully contributed 9 medals for the Central Java contingent in the 2022 National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) XVII which took place on November 17-26, 2022 at Padang State University (UNP), Padang City, West Sumatra.
The description of the 9 medals included the Karate sport which won 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 4 bronze medals, and the Bullet Rejection Athletics sport which won 1 silver medal. With this achievement, Undip students also contributed medals to the Central Java contingent so that the Central Java contingent succeeded in being ranked second at the POMNAS XVII in 2022.
Until the closing of the 2022 POMNAS XVII on Saturday (26/11), the Central Java contingent won a total of 89 medals with a description of 28 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 38 bronze medals.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H, M.Hum. conveyed congratulations and gave appreciation to athletes, coaches, and team officials for all the struggles and sacrifices at 2022 POMNAS XVII.
“I congratulate all athletes, coaches and team officials who have competed in 2022 POMNAS XVII. The struggle and sacrifices done have made Undip proud.” explained Prof. Yos.
“I give my high appreciation to all the athletes who have shown all their abilities to become champions. And for those who haven’t succeeded, you have to keep your spirits up and keep practicing preparing yourself. There are still many opportunities there. All of you have glorified Undip’s great name.” he added.
Drs. Handojo Djoko Waloejo, M.Si. as Person In Charge (PIC) of Undip contingent in 2022 POMNAS XVII revealed that at 2022 POMNAS XVII, Undip sent its student athletes for participate in 3 sports, namely Karate (13 athletes), Taekwondo (1 athlete), and Bullet Rejection Athletics (1 athlete).
In general, 2,985 athletes from 408 tertiary institutions throughout Indonesia participated in the 2022 POMNAS XVII. In addition, there are 14 sports being contested, namely Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Futsal, Pencak Silat, Petanque, Tarung Derajat, Tennis, Swimming, Sepaktakraw, Badminton, Rock Climbing, Karate and Taekwondo.
