Undip Held Socialization of the Election of the Undip Rector for the 2024-2029 Term of Office

On Thursday, January 26 2023, Diponegoro University (Undip) held a Socialization of the Election of the Undip Rector for the 2024-2029 Term of Office which was carried out online via the Zoom Meeting platform. This activity was organized by the Rector Selection Committee (P2R) of Diponegoro University as the initial stage of the entire 2024-2029 Rector Election series as stipulated in the Board of Trustees Regulation Number 1 of 2022 concerning Procedures for Election of Rector and Dismissal of Diponegoro University Rector.

The socialization activity led by Prof. Ir. Edy Rianto, M.Sc., P.hD., IPU. as Chair of the Rector Selection Committee (P2R) discussed two agendas, namely Socialization of Diponegoro University Board of Trustees Regulation Number 1 of 2022 concerning Procedures for Election of Rector and Dismissal of Diponegoro University Rector; and Socialization of the Rules of Procedure for the Election of Diponegoro University Rector for the 2024-2029 Term of Office.

Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. as Secretary of P2R explained the process of selecting the Undip Rector for the 2024-2029 Term of Office was held earlier with the aim of providing opportunities for the Rector who will later be elected to prepare a more mature work program and have sufficient time to study and understand the scope of duties as well as responsibilities of the Undip Rector with the current Rector.

“Being Undip Rector is no joke, there are approximately 4,000 families who make a living here, and there are approximately 67,000 students who carry the big name of Undip looking for work. At least those two things are enough to make us more careful.” said Prof. Yos.

To carry out the Election of Undip Rector process for the 2024-2029 Term of Office, the Board of Trustees (MWA) has formed a Rector Selection Committee based on the Decree of the Board of Trustees Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Establishment of the Diponegoro University Rector Election Committee for the 2024-2029 Term of Office, which the arrangement is as follows:

1. Head of the Academic Senate as Chair of the Committee;
2. Rector as Secretary;
3. Chairman of the Board of Professors as a Member;
4. 3 (three) members of the MWA from non-professor lecturers as Members;
5. 4 (four) members of the MWA from professor lecturers as Members;
6. 1 (one) member of the MWA from Education Staff as a Member;
7. 1 (one) member of the MWA from Student as a Member;
8. 1 (one) member of MWA from Alumni as a Member;
9. 1 (one) member of MWA from the Community as a Member;
10. 1 (one) Dean of the Faculty of Science as a Member;
11. 1 (one) Dean of the Faculty of Social Humanities as a Member.

Furthermore, Prof. Yos said that the stages of the election process of Rector include the screening of Rector Candidates, the examination of Rector Candidates, the selection and appointment of Rector, and the appointment of the elected Rector. The schedule of activities for the Election of Undip Rector for the 2024-2029 Term of Office is as follows:

Prof. Yos hopes that the Undip Rector who will be elected will maintain the mandate give and continue to maintain Undip’s great name. “We make it comfortable and calm, Insyaallah, we will produce a trustworthy Undip Leader.” he concluded.
