Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University held the 2023 Undip Career Days at the Imam Bardjo S.H Auditorium, Undip Pleburan campus. This event aimed to assist students in pursuing careers after graduation. This event succeeded in attracting thousands of participants from various regions, not only from the Faculty of Engineering, but also from other faculties and from outside the Diponegoro University.
The opening of the 2023 Undip Career Days began with remarks from Dr. Eng. Gunawan Dwi Haryadi, ST., MT, Chairman of the Engineering Career Center (ECC). In his remarks, he said that the 2023 Undip Career Days was initiated by the Engineering Career Center, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University. ECC itself is a new directorate at the Faculty level whose duty and responsibility is to distribute new graduates and alumni students from the Faculty of Engineering. This activity is the first activity in the field of collaboration where ECC collaborates effectively with a 3rd party, namely Level 7 Indonesia. Level 7 Indonesia itself was lined up as the Event Organizer of this job fair event. The 2023 Undip Career Days event is a manifestation of the support of the Faculty of Engineering Undip for students in pursuing careers. It is hoped that students can make the best of this opportunity.
Furthermore, the event continued with a prayer led by the Administrative Section Manager of the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, Mr. Ari Eko Widiyantoro, S.T., M.Si. After reading the prayer, the event continued with cutting the ribbon as a symbol of the opening of UNDIP Career Days. The ribbon cutting was carried out by the Chairperson of the ECC, Dr. Eng. Gunawan.
After the opening ceremony, the event continued with various activities such as exhibitions from various companies that have collaborated with Diponegoro University. In the exhibition, these companies not only displayed their products and services, but also provided information about available vacancies at these companies. Job fair participants are given the opportunity to meet directly with professionals in their fields. These professionals will provide experience and tips in pursuing a career, so that students can be better prepared to enter the world of work.
Regarding the 2023 Undip Career Days, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc., Ph.D. welcomed the implementation of the inaugural ECC event. According to him, the application of the OBE curriculum in the Faculty of Engineering requires that the Faculty of Engineering must continue to evaluate its graduating students three to four years after the students graduate. Apart from that, demands from international accreditation as well as Key Performance Indicators of Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) make the Faculty of Engineering must always pay attention to its graduates, especially related to job acceptance of these graduates. With Undip Career Days, he is quite satisfied because the Faculty of Engineering can meet these demands. In addition, according to him, the presence of the ECC can fill the space that has arisen due to the absence of career and graduate-related activities at Undip so far.
In addition, Deputy Dean of Human Resources, Dr. Abdul Syakur, ST, MT also said that Undip Career Days were something new for the Faculty of Engineering Undip. In this event, the Faculty of Engineering held a job fair for the first time. According to him, when the Faculty of Engineering initiated the formation of the ECC, the Faculty of Engineering was fortunate enough to meet directly with parties who were also looking for partners to hold a job fair. So far, he said, Diponegoro University rarely held job fairs for its graduates. This led to a vacancy related to career management for Diponegoro University graduates themselves. It was from this void that ECC was created with the hope that it would be able to create programs that could absorb new graduates so they could find work immediately. The event is a real form from the fruitful cooperation in this job fair event.
The 2023 Undip Career Days has succeeded in providing a very useful platform for Diponegoro University students in pursuing careers. This event succeeded in presenting many companies and professionals who assist students in knowing and preparing themselves for the world of work. Hopefully this event can continue to be held and provide benefits for Diponegoro University students in the future.
