In order to strengthen collaboration between universities in the academic and research fields, Diponegoro University, Indonesia signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Waterloo, Canada. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was held at the Engineering Hall, Dean Building of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Tembalang on Wednesday, 22 February 2023 at 09:00 – 12:00 WIB. Undip was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., Lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Dr. R.B. Sularto, S.H., M.Hum. Present from the University of Waterloo, namely the Dean of the Faculty of Environment, Dr. Bruce Frayne, Lecturer of the Faculty of Environment, Prof. Simron Singh, and Associate Dean, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice, Dr. Prateep Nayak.
Head of Undip International Office, Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. officially opened this event and said that with the establishment of this collaboration, collaboration between Undip and the University of Waterloo could be carried out regularly, with the aim of advancing both tertiary institutions and benefiting the community. “Collaboration also includes student mobility programs and professional staff programs,” said Anggun.
Dean of the Faculty of Environment University of Waterloo, Dr. Bruce Frayne, said that from this collaboration it is hoped that related parties can experience new experiences, improve students’ abilities and expertise, and establish sustainable collaborations. This is an opportunity for all of us to develop, we are also open to faculties who wish to collaborate,” said Dr. Bruce.
Associate Dean, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice, Dr. Prateep Nayak, in his brief remarks, shared his collaboration with Undip which has lasted 10 (ten) years through joint research, multiple projects, and so on. “How this collaboration can be established is from the way we work and are dedicated. To the students, you are the agent of change, the hope and the aspiration,” said Dr. Prateep.
With the signing of the MoA which is valid for 5 (five) years, it is hoped that conducive and innovative collaboration can be well established between Undip and the University of Waterloo through public lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences, cooperation between study programs, and so on.
