Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Prof. Mohamad Nasir, M.Si., Akt., Ph.D. conveyed that the process of selecting the Rector of Diponegoro University for 2024-2029 at the Debate of Diponegoro University Rector Candidates for the 2024–2029 Period which was held at the Prof. Soedarto, S.H. Building, Tuesday (20/6). It began in January 2023, starting with the Selection Stage where 4 Rector candidates registered, namely Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Faculty of Engineering); Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. (Faculty of Economics and Business); Prof. dr. Muhamad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D., P.A., Sp. BS. (K). (Faculty of Medicine); and Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D. (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences).
“The Rector’s Selection Process will continue with the screening stage, which was held in June 2023, to be precise on June 8, 2023. Presentation for Work Programs by Prospective Rector Candidates was held during this screening stage. Based on the proposed list of assessment results by the panelists submitted to the Rector Selection Committee, 3 (three) rector candidates were chosen with the highest score starting from Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si.; Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D .; and Prof. dr. Muhamad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D., P.A., Sp. BS. (K),” he explained.
“Entering the Selection and Determination of Rector Candidates, the Board of Trustees held a Debate of Diponegoro University Rector Candidates for the 2024–2029 Period. The Debate Rector Candidates is open, so the academic community can watch it through Undip TV Official YouTube streaming or live through the screen prepared in the Prof. Soedarto Building. Whoever is elected, hopefully, can advance Undip for the 2024-2029 period,” continued Prof. Nasir.
In the Debate of Rector Candidates, Prof. Suharnomo said the excellent achievement of Undip’s Key Performance Indicator 1 was indicated by the tracer studies and Undip alumni work in multinational companies.
Prof. Agung conveyed the mission of “Go Global, Good Governance.” Go Global is Undip’s achievement at the international level, while Good Governance is transparent and accountable governance. In addition, the management of the campus upholds integrity and honesty. As well as creating a corruption-free bureaucratic reform zone (ZI WBK).
Meanwhile, Prof. Thohar said Undip is responsible for establishing a World Class University through matching funds, research, and others. We need to manage the database because it is important for a university, including knowledge and research that is real-time and well-integrated. Tertiary institutions need to increase their ranking.
At the selection and determination of stages of the Rector Candidates by the Board of Trustees, Prof. Suharnomo got 14 votes; Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo got 9 votes; and Prof. Thohar got 0 vote. Thus the Board of Trustees determined the Elected Undip Rector for the 2024-2029 period was Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. (LW/Titis-Public Relations)
