Wednesday, 14 June 2023, the Faculty of Engineering Undip received a visit from Curtin University. The visit occurred in the Senate Room, floor 3rd Dean Building. The Deputy Dean of Research and Development and the Curtin Malaysia Graduate School Director, Prof. Agus Saptoro; and Ms. Patricia Kelly from Global Curtin present as representatives from Curtin University.
This event is a follow-up to the collaboration initiative that had previously existed between the Faculty of Engineering Undip and Curtin University. In addition, the team from the International Office of the Faculty of Engineering, heads of study programs, and students of the international undergraduate program (IUP) were invited to listen to a presentation on the new mobility scheme offered by Curtin University to the Faculty of Engineering, in where one of them is Double Degree and International Credit Transfer.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc., Ph.D., welcomed the visit from Curtin University this time. According to him, the arrival of one of the Faculty of Engineering’s foreign partners is a good time for students to prepare themselves to study at one of the best campuses in Australia. For him, international undergraduate students can fulfill their obligation to conduct international exposure at Curtin University. “For IUP students, it is obligatory to get international exposure. If there is an opportunity to study at Curtin, take that opportunity,” said Prof. Agung.
So far, the Faculty of Engineering has collaborated with Curtin University in several fields, such as research and education. The collaboration can be seen from the success of the Double Degree program implemented by the joint program of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the Department of Chemical Engineering with Curtin University. During this visit, Prof. Agung hoped to realize wider cooperation opportunities in the future. “Hopefully, in the future, we can carry out other collaborations, such as conducting capacity building for lecturers and staff, as well as the Double Degree program and Credit Transfer System with other departments,” he stated.
A representative from Curtin University, Prof. Agus Saptoro, also expressed his gratitude to the Faculty of Engineering Undip. According to him, Undip is one of Curtin University’s strategic partners in Southeast Asia. As a strategic partner, it is appropriate for Curtin University to maintain the relationship that has been created by following up to check the extent of the cooperation that has been agreed so far. He hopes the collaboration between Curtin University and the Faculty of Engineering will run well. “Let’s turn existing competition into collaboration,” he concluded.
