UNDIP Community Service Students Help MSMEs to Make QRIS Digital Payment Media

Pemalang (03/08/23) – Diponegoro University (Undip) Thematic Community Service (KKN) students collaborated with several Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Klareyan Village, Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency to introduce and use QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) as a digital payment medium. The QRIS manufacturing activity was carried out door-to-door with the primary targets. They are Wedang Jahe Mbak Retno, Keripik Tempe Fitri, and Abon Ayam Ampera MSMEs.

QRIS is a QR code standard for payments developed by Bank Indonesia. QRIS allows users to make payments using QR codes that can be read by various e-wallets or mobile banking applications registered in the QRIS system. By adopting QRIS, non-cash transactions can become more accessible, faster, and safer. In addition, the adoption of QRIS can also support the government’s efforts to encourage the digitalization of payments in Indonesia.

Even though QRIS has become a popular digital payment method, currently, there are still many people and MSMEs in Klareyan Village who need to become more familiar with this technology. Many still need cash payments, making it difficult for buyers to make transactions. Therefore, Diponegoro University Thematic KKN Students 2023 initiated a QRIS creation program to help MSMEs keep growing in the developed world of digital payments.

This program received a positive response from MSMEs in Klareyan Village because it provides a more practical and modern payment alternative. Ms. Retno, as the Wedang Jahe Mbak Retno MSME owner, expressed her appreciation for the assistance provided by KKN Undip students. “In the past, our transactions were always manual, sometimes making it difficult for customers to prepare cash. Now with QRIS, everything is easier, and we hope to reach more customers,” said Ms. Retno.

Through this program, it is hoped that MSMEs in Klareyan Village can continue to grow and develop in the digital era. Not only that, this program is also expected to have a positive impact, especially on economic activities in Klareyan Village as a whole.
