KKN UNDIP Students Provided PIRT Permit Assistance to Sidalang Jaka MSME in Klareyan Village

Pemalang- Helena Paskah Lintangarum, a student of the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences who is a member of Community Service (KKN) Undip Team II 2023, assisted Home Industry Food (PIRT) permit to Sidalang Jaka MSME owners. Before carrying out the mentoring, the team conducted an assessment of the Sidalang Jaka MSME to see what certification the MSME already had. Sidalang Jaka MSME only has a Business Identification Number (NIB) as an identity owned by business actors. Meanwhile, the Home Industry Food (PIRT) permit still needs to be owned by the Sidalang Jaka MSME. PIRT is essential as a guarantee for consumers regarding the products offered by industry actors.

A PIRT permit can also ensure that the safety and quality of the product are guaranteed for consumer consumption. Apart from that, food safety education is also carried out for registrants, namely MSME actors, in the PIRT registration procedure. The registration of the PIRT permit aims to make food processing entrepreneurs more aware and responsible for the importance of quality, service and safety in the products they market. After that, the product being sold will have a registration number that has been registered with the Department of Health. Dr. Fahmi Arifan, S.T., M.Eng., as supervisor lecturer, said, “MSME products that have a PIRT permit will be more trusted by the public.”

Meanwhile, Ir. R.T.D Wisnu Broto, M.T., the field supervisor, also explained, “Through the PIRT permit, products consumed by the public are guaranteed to be safe, healthy, and it is hoped that the processing, packaging and distribution of the products will also be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.”

The assistance was carried out on July 26, 2023, at the house of the owner of the Sidalang Jaka MSME, Klareyan Village, Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. Registration for a PIRT permit is done online via the OSS website, which begins with creating an account accompanied by some data from the business owner. After successful account registration, it is also confirmed that the NIB has been registered in the OSS account. Registration for the Food Industry Food Production Certificate (SPP-IRT) will be connected to BPOM to complete the required forms, such as business actor data, fulfillment of commitments, product data and product label data. Online PIRT permit registration via the OSS website was successfully issued for the ginger powder drink product “Sidalang Jaka.” In the next step, business actors will carry out food safety education and surveys by Health Service officers.

Wisnu Broto further said, “There are many MSME business actors whose products still need to get a PIRT permit. After being assisted, immediately register for a PIRT permit. “Hopefully, sales of products sold by MSME actors can develop more widely.”
