Thursday, 19 October 2023. In order to develop book writing competencies, especially in writing educational books, UPT Library and Undip Press held the tenth Webinar with the theme “Training in Writing Non-Fiction Books to Support Scientific Publications.” This Webinar presents speakers who are accredited in the world of book writing, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Munasik, M.Sc. He is one of the professors who teaches at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and focuses on Ecology and Coral Reef Conservation. This Webinar is open to the public so that the knowledge shared will not only develop competence among the Undip community but will also benefit the general public. Participants who attended the Webinar came from various universities and agencies, such as UGM, UI, UNPAD, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, BPSIP Central Java and others. The total number of participants who took part in this Webinar was approximately 290 participants.
The event opened with remarks from the head of UPT Library and Undip Press, Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom. who said, “Diponegoro University through UPT Library and Undip Press is trying to participate in developing the world of book writing through writing training events. Undip Press is now facilitating writers by providing book publishing services.” Information related to book publishing can be accessed via the Penerbit.undip.ac.id page. Next, the Webinar continued with a presentation from Prof. Dr. Ir. Munasik, M.Sc., which explained material about getting to know non-fiction books, reviewing educational books, educational writing materials, how to write academic books, and how to publish books. “For ladies and gentlemen participating in the training on book writing, the most important thing is to work as much as possible. Prepare quality book writing materials from research results, citing new titles. Don’t be afraid to write. Just put your ideas on paper or a word page.”
The Webinar ran smoothly and was interactive. Participants seemed enthusiastic about taking part in this Webinar and asked several interesting questions regarding the material. There was also an interactive discussion between Prof. Dr. Ir. Munasik, M.Sc. and Catur Puji Astuti from STMIK, who discussed material about monograph writing.
