Liony Alvina Damayanti, S.Sos., is an outstanding alumnus of the Bachelor of Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. She was inaugurated at Undip’s 172nd graduation ceremony. While studying, Liony took part in many other activities outside of lectures, such as joining organizations and participating in competitions. Her achievements were not without failure; she tried matches until she finally won 1st place at the national level in a contest held by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion regarding short videos with the theme “Religious Moderation.” Another achievement was obtained from the popular scientific article competition in the field of geography held by the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, winning third place.
Liony’s series of achievements were driven by her life motto, namely “No Pain, No Gain.” She tried every competition possible, no matter whether he lost or won. “Don’t be embarrassed or afraid to take part in the competition, don’t be afraid of losing, learn from the experience and keep trying. We will definitely achieve the results,” said Liony.
The meaning of graduation for this Semarang-born woman is the first step in a new chapter of life, “Graduation means a new journey where I have to start from the beginning again. It’s a new world, a new life where I have to try to adapt likewise,” she said.
