Mother Earth mourns again amidst the calm of February; on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, flash floods occurred in the Grobogan region. The flooding, caused by the overflowing of the Tuntang River and incessant heavy rains, has affected more than 60 villages in 16 sub-districts in Grobogan Regency. As the best and oldest university in Central Java, Diponegoro University (Undip), through the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART), sent a Rapid Assessment Team to the scene shortly after the disaster occurred. The team, consisting of Undip students and medical personnel, was dispatched under the guidance of the Rector led by Prof. Dr.Ing, Ir. Suherman S.T., M.T., as the Head of the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Undip, and Prof. Dr. Rahayu S.H., M.H., as the Deputy Head of Community Service at LPPM Undip.
“This team aims to provide a direct overview of the field regarding the needs that we can provide so that it is more targeted. We also communicate with the Gubug Sub-district Disaster Response Team in coordination with Mr. Bambang as the Sub-district Head and also the Head of the Task Force Team. It is known that there are around 3700 houses submerged along with 8 educational facilities and 1 place of worship. Later, there will be other teams to assist as volunteers and also distribute donations,” said dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med, MMR, Ph.D., Sp.And. Subsp FER, FISQua, as the Chairman of D-DART.
The Rapid Assessment Team consists of Dr. Satrio Adi Wicaksono, Sp.An., KAO, Dr. Susilo Adi Widyanto, S.T., M.T., dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med, MMR, Ph.D., Sp.And. Subsp FER, FISQua, Nana Rochana, S.Kep., MN., Ns. Nur Hafizhah Widyaningtyas, S.Kep., M.Kep. as the Medical Team from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering at Undip. The students involved are Queen Aisyah Primarini, Irham Abdillah, Ficky Widiyanto, and Kanya Aulia Ardhani. Some urgent needs for the victims include groceries, ready-to-eat food, medicines, blankets, and hygiene kits. May all those affected always find strength in the future. Recover, Mother Earth. (AS)
