Faculty of Engineering UNDIP Inaugurates Integrated Laboratory, Ready to Be an International Standard Campus

The Faculty of Engineering at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has officially added a new facility. The inauguration ceremony for the Integrated Laboratory took place on Friday, April 27, 2024. The event was attended by the Rector of Diponegoro University, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Chair of Departments, the Heads of Laboratory, the Deans of faculties, and several Bureau Heads.

The construction of the Integrated Laboratory began during the tenure of the previous Dean, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., and was completed this year. According to Prof. Agung, who also served as the chairman of the construction committee for the Integrated Laboratory, the initial idea behind the construction of this lab was the demand to create a laboratory facility that meets international accreditation standards.

“The Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering was inspired when the Faculty of Engineering obtained international accreditation for the first time in 2017. At that time, we mentioned it to the Rector (regarding this lab), and he gave his approval,” said Prof. Agung.

Prof. Agung also added that several laboratories will be available for use by various departments within the Faculty of Engineering. The plan is to have an Integrated Welding Lab for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture Engineering, and Industrial Engineering on the first floor. The second floor will be dedicated to a specialized Chemical Engineering lab. A Testing Lab will be constructed on the third floor, and a specialized Internet of Things lab will be on the fourth floor.

“Each floor will be allocated for several related departments,” said Prof. Agung.

The Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., signed the inauguration plaque for the Integrated Laboratory building of the Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP.

Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T., the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for the period 2024-2029, expressed pride in this new facility and his hope that the academic community of the Faculty of Engineering will play a crucial role in maintaining this Integrated Laboratory in the future. “Let us be grateful for what Prof. Agung and his team have initiated. Let us continue and take care of it,” he said, emphasizing the importance of the audience’s role in this endeavor.

Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of Diponegoro University, had the honor of cutting the ribbon and signing the inauguration plaque at this event. In his speech, Prof. Yos expressed his optimistic hope that once this laboratory is operational, students will experience enhanced comfort and enjoyment in their studies at UNDIP. “This building is one of our efforts to provide services that can attract students,” said Prof. Yos, instilling a sense of anticipation for the future.
