On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the international ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) for 2025. In the QS WUR 2025 release, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) was ranked 721-730, an improvement of 70 places from its previous position of 791-800. This ranking places UNDIP at #43 in Southeast Asia and #8 in Indonesia.

The QS WUR ranking evaluates nine aspects that universities must achieve with high performance: Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Employer Reputation, Employment Outcomes, Faculty-Student Ratio, International Faculty, International Research Network, International Students, and Sustainability.

The performance in these nine aspects is determined by academic activities accompanied by continuous innovation carried out by universities in developing their institutions. The ranking results achieved by UNDIP are the result of the maximum performance of all parties, including leadership, staff, faculty, students, and UNDIP partners.

Among the nine QS WUR assessment aspects, UNDIP saw an increase in scores in Employer Reputation (up 62 places), Academic Reputation (up 50 places), and International Faculty (up 58 places). Research productivity also increased, with 8,510 articles and 33,063 citations. However, six other aspects still require maximum effort from all parties to improve their quality, including Faculty-Student Ratio, Citations per Faculty, International Research Network, International Students, Employment Outcomes, and Sustainability.

Faculty, staff, and students will continuously pursue efforts to improve the scores of these six aspects to enhance research quality and strengthen and expand UNDIP’s international collaboration network, thus improving UNDIP’s global recognition.

The ranking results were directly reported by the Head of the Ranking Office, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, to the Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. The UNDIP Rector welcomed the QS WUR 2025 ranking results with joy as they reflect UNDIP’s position on a global scale.
