Becoming a Healthy Campus, UNDIP Cares about Employee Health

In fulfilling the commitment to develop a healthy campus program at Diponegoro University, the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Unit (UPT Keselamatan, Kesehatan Kerja dan Lingkungan / K3L) collaborated with the Bulusan Tembalang Community Health Center to hold a Posbindu PTM event. The Posbindu PTM event was held at the UPT Library and UNDIP Press Building, 1st Floor (Thursday, 18/7)—the event aimed to screen the health of UNDIP’s central office staff.

The Integrated Development Post for Non-Communicable Diseases (Posbindu PTM) carried out by the UPT K3L UNDIP team is part of UNDIP’s initiative to conduct early detection and monitoring of major NCD risk factors in an integrated, routine, and periodic manner. The effort is also a part of the UNDIP Healthy Campus program, which has received support from the Rector.

A total of 127 central office employees enthusiastically participated in the Posbindu PTM program. Students from the Volunteer Corps (KSR) FKM UNDIP and KSR UNDIP assisted the Posbindu PTM activity by conducting examinations of weight, height, and waist circumference.

Bina Kurniawan, S.KM., M.Kes., as the Head of the UNDIP Healthy Campus Team, stated that the Posbindu PTM UNDIP activity has become a routine program conducted both at the central office and faculties. The Posbindu activities at the central office are aimed at employees and lecturers working at the central office, including employees with additional duties. The goal is to have a specific overview of each employee’s health condition for self-monitoring purposes.

“Posbindu has been conducted for almost two years every month in the second/third week, involving various units in rotation. The aim is early detection to know the health condition of these employees, especially related to the examinations, which include blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, uric acid, as well as height, weight, and waist circumference to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) as an initial screening of UNDIP employees’ health conditions,” explained Bina.

In fact, Posbindu provides doctors with consultations if the examination results are outside/above the linear limit, leading to further action. Posbindu serves as early detection, not a healthcare service, so the doctors are only for consultation. “There are no curative measures, meaning no medication or treatments are provided, not even prescriptions. The examination results can be taken to their respective healthcare services, such as community health centers, clinics according to their BPJS healthcare facilities, or even hospitals if desired,” Bina continued.

Bina mentioned that UPT K3L also has a data processing program where the collected data will be processed to understand the health conditions of UNDIP employees, especially at the central office. Further education and literacy on abnormal conditions will be conducted. Those who are healthy and have good examination results should maintain their health consistently.

“We hope all UNDIP employees stay healthy. If there are any health issues, they can be addressed with further health examinations and treatments if necessary. Additionally, we provide education on healthy living habits so that employees can perform their duties optimally,” concluded Bina. (DHW-Public Relations)
