UNDIP Academics Ready to Join Democracy School

“UNDIP, in collaboration with the Indef School of Political Economy, KITLV Leiden, LP3ES, INDEF, and Paramadina University, organized the School of Democracy (Sekdem). Sekdem and ISPE are annual leadership training forums for future national leaders. Such training is crucial to encourage the emergence of young leaders and thinkers who will shape the nation’s future,” said Vice Rector IV, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D.

In addition to collaborating with the School of Democracy, UNDIP also launched the Journalists and Academics Forum (Jurnalis dan Akademisi / Juara), which aims to create a platform for journalists and academics to influence the public sphere. UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., strongly supports this critical forum amidst the wave of disinformation currently sweeping the world, which has severe implications for the nation. He emphasized that the academic community should not be selfish and solely focused on administrative matters.

“The experts at the School of Democracy come from various disciplines, not just social, economic, and political scientists, but also neuroscientists, urban planners, psychologists, writers, data scientists, desalination experts, and other specialists, depending on the public issues at hand. The School of Democracy will be featured in the form of webinars and podcasts on Instagram, TikTok, Reels, and hopefully also on Spotify. Various scholars from both domestic and international institutions will share their insights, including consistent participation from UNDIP experts as speakers at the School of Democracy,” added Vice Rector IV.

The implementation of the School of Democracy and the launch of Juara on July 26, 2024, was also attended by media editors-in-chief. The event received extensive coverage from various media outlets,” he concluded. (LW-Public Relations)
