UNDIP (Monday, 28/10) – The commemoration of Youth Pledge Day serves as a historic moment to remind us of the importance of the unity and solidarity declared by Indonesian youth in 1928. In celebration, Universitas Diponegoro held a flag-raising ceremony for the 96th Youth Pledge Day of 2024, themed “Maju Bersama Indonesia Raya” / “Progress Together, Great Indonesia,” at the Widya Puraya Field on UNDIP’s Tembalang Campus, Semarang. Through this commemoration, it is hoped that future generations will continue to foster a love for the homeland and strengthen their commitment to building a better Indonesia.
All ceremony participants, including UNDIP faculty and administrative staff, respectfully and solemnly took part in the procession. The ceremony agenda included the reading of the 1928 Youth Congress Resolution and a speech from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo, S.H., delivered by UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who acted as the ceremony leader.
In his speech, Menpora Dito Ariotedjo encouraged all citizens to create as much space as possible for Indonesian youth to participate in various areas of development. This initiative is intended to improve the Youth Development Index (Indeks Pembangunan Pemuda / IPP) and guide Indonesia toward its 2045 vision. At the end of his address, he expressed appreciation for the dedication of everyone who has contributed to youth empowerment.
“We extend our highest appreciation and thanks for the positive contributions of all stakeholders who have consistently provided strong youth services. A prosperous and united Indonesia calls for the participation and commitment of Indonesian youth,” stated UNDIP’s Rector, representing Menpora RI.
In his remarks, Prof. Suharnomo, as the ceremony leader, noted that UNDIP is committed to being “dignified and beneficial.” “Dignified means academically by fostering a better academic atmosphere and building a stronger reputation among national and international academics. Beneficial means relevant in academics, with the university playing an active role in providing solutions to society,” he said.
“We aim to be a solution for many societal issues and needs. Although we are on this journey, this is a vast task, and UNDIP will continually have room for improvement,” added Prof. Suharnomo.
“I am confident that UNDIP is filled with exceptional talent among our faculty and staff. Let’s continue to synergize across units and faculties, implementing this vision at Diponegoro University,” he emphasized.
The UNDIP Rector also acknowledged that there are still areas for improvement at UNDIP. Still, he believes that with the sophistication, reliability, and passion of everyone involved, UNDIP will continue to grow better.
“Once again, with passion and joyful hearts, may we prepare the nation’s best sons and daughters for the global stage in an increasingly competitive job and business market. May our commitment to knowledge, the times, and being a solution to society be embedded in the hearts of all at Universitas Diponegoro,” concluded Prof. Suharnomo. (DHW – Public Relations)
