The Bachelor’s Program in Naval Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro once again brought prestige to UNDIP at a prestigious competition held at the Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya on October 23-28, 2024. The event was attended by participants from 45 of the best universities across Indonesia. The Indonesian Ship Contest (Kontes Kapal Indonesia / KKI) is an annual competition that includes innovation in technology design, prototype creation, and prototype performance in the field of marine ship technology. This competition is aimed at students and is organized annually by the BPTI, Puspresnas, and Kemendikbudristek.
This competition serves as a platform for students to showcase and express their creative innovations through six competition categories:
- Innovative Special Equipment Ship Design (IPK)
- Innovative Ship Propulsion and Electrical System Design (ISPK)
- Innovative Ship Design and Construction (IDK)
- Prototype Creation and Performance of Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV)
- Prototype Creation and Performance of Electric Remote Control (ERC)
- Prototype Creation and Performance of Fuel Engine Remote Control (FERC)
Universitas Diponegoro participated in this event by sending six teams to compete in all categories. Preparation for this competition began in June 2024, involving a series of internal campus selection stages, proposal reviews by Puspresnas, and the final report and presentation stages.
Proudly, UNDIP teams achieved remarkable results, including:
- 1st Place in the Electric Remote Control (ERC) category, won by the Lembuswana Team 2 from the Hydrotech research team
- 2nd Place in the Innovative Ship Design and Construction (IDK) category, won by Ganendra-EZ from the Ekalawya research team
- Honorable Mention (1st Runner-Up) in the Innovative Special Equipment (IPK) category, won by Avirodha-EZ from the Ekalawya research team
- A Fun Race award in the ERC category
Ganendra-EZ Team Leader Syahrul Ramadhan explained, “Our team, Ganendra-EZ, prepared for the KKI presentation over three months, overcoming various challenges. Thanks to the support from team members, academic advisors, and the Ekalawya research team, we secured second place. We brought pride to Universitas Diponegoro, proving that our collaboration and perseverance can overcome any obstacle.”
Meanwhile, Muhammad Zikri Rhamadhani expressed, “Our Lembuswana Team 2 managed to win first place in the ERC category and also received an award in the Fun Race category. This achievement is certainly exciting for both the team and Universitas Diponegoro, and we are very grateful for these results. We went through many processes but completed them smoothly and successfully, achieving results that met our expectations. We are very thankful to everyone involved in the team’s success, especially to Hydrotech UNDIP for always being with us and striving together to win.”
This event was not just a competition but also a means to strengthen collaboration and innovation in the maritime field, encouraging students to create more efficient and environmentally friendly ships. Let us maintain this spirit and continue to innovate to strengthen the national marine industry! (Naval Engineering Team & UT-Media relations)
