Semarang, November 12, 2024 – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to demonstrate its commitment to occupational safety and health by developing an innovative new mini fire truck. This vehicle was created by modifying a three-wheeled Viar motorcycle equipped with a water tank and pump, enabling it to perform fire-fighting duties in areas that are difficult for larger vehicles to access.
The mini fire truck is designed to reach locations with narrow or restricted terrain, which has been a particular challenge for conventional fire trucks. In various emergencies, this vehicle is expected to provide a quick and efficient response, thereby minimizing fire risks within the campus area and its surroundings.
“We strive to provide innovative solutions that are not only environmentally friendly but also responsive to safety aspects,” said Dr. Warsito Kawedar, S.E., M.Si., Akt., Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, Assets, Business, and General Affairs at Universitas Diponegoro. “This modification is a tangible expression of UNDIP’s commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment,” he stated.
The mini fire truck is not only beneficial for the internal campus community. Still, it will also be used as part of UNDIP’s contribution to fire risk mitigation efforts in the surrounding community. Through this innovation, UNDIP hopes to set an example for other educational institutions in raising awareness and concern for workplace safety. (EAS ed. Ut-media relations)
