Semarang (December 9, 2024) – The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) celebrated the 25th anniversary of DWP RI with the theme “Strengthening the Foundation for DWP Transformation Towards Indonesia Emas 2045.” The festive event took place on the 6th floor of the Acintya Prasada Building, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP Tembalang campus, attended by the UNDIP Rector and DWP Advisor, DWP members, and other guests.
In her opening remarks, Dewi Widayani Suharnomo, Chair of DWP UNDIP, emphasized that this commemoration serves as a momentum to strengthen DWP’s role in supporting national development, particularly in shaping the golden generation. “DWP is a platform for continuous learning, sharing, and enhancing competencies,” she said.
“DWP UNDIP continues to strive to contribute positively through women’s empowerment programs and social community activities that cover 3 (three) areas. First, the education sector, namely by carrying out activities aimed at improving human resources for both administrators and members; providing scholarships, DWP UNDIP Choir; Permata PAUD; and Majelis Sholawat Nurul Ilmi (MSNI). Second, the socio-cultural sector includes activities such as routine monthly religious studies, interpretation, taksin, tadarus and activities for Christian members. Third, the creative economy sector to support DWP programs,” said the Head of DWP UNDIP.
Dewi Suharnomo encouraged all DWP members to enhance their roles as members, wives, and mothers, benefiting both families and society in line with the tagline, “Dignified UNDIP, Beneficial UNDIP” (UNDIP Bermartabat, UNDIP Bermanfaat.)
As DWP UNDIP Advisor, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., commended DWP UNDIP’s positive contributions. He highlighted the importance of healthy family communication, especially between spouses, noting that harmonious communication creates a happy and positive family environment. “One way to make a wife happy is by allowing her to be active in organizations such as Dharma Wanita,” he stated.
Prof. Suharnomo also addressed current societal challenges, urging mothers to guide their children in managing FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), which can lead to stress and anxiety, impairing focus and productivity. It is analogous to the ‘strawberry generation,’ which is brilliant but frail.
“We also cautioned against the HENRY phenomenon (High Earning, Not Rich Yet), a global trend where spending prioritizes consumption over self-development.
Today’s young adults focus on superficial priorities, such as appearances, the internet, and other consumerism ideals,” he stated.
For this reason, Prof. Suharnomo advised that the role of a wife and mother is significant in directing children not to focus on artificial things such as appearance but to focus on competitive stuff by having a good attitude and morals.
The event featured a symbolic tumpeng cutting by Dewi Widayani Suharnomo, presented to Sri Budiarni Sudharto, representing the wife of a former UNDIP Rector.
This session was followed by an exchange of tokens of appreciation and the launch of Permata Magazine, produced by DWP UNDIP, showcasing activities, inspirational stories, and helpful information.
Earlier, the anniversary celebration began with a pilgrimage at UNDIP’s cemetery, honoring past contributors to the university. The event concluded with a video presentation of DWP UNDIP’s activities in November 2024 and a group photo to mark the unity and appreciation of DWP UNDIP’s 25th-anniversary celebration.
