During a visit to New Zealand at the end of May 2024, a delegation from UNDIP met with representatives of Auckland University of Technology. The meeting was held on May 21, 2024. The delegation was welcomed by Professor Tek Tjing Lie, Head of the School, along with Professor Peter Chong and Professor B.L. William Wong from the School of Engineering, Computer, and Mathematical Sciences, Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
In the meeting, Prof. Tek Tjing Lie stated that AUT is one of the best young universities, ranked among the top 100 in the world based on the quality of education, research, citations, international reputation, and industry income. AUT holds the top position in New Zealand for its global reputation and is ranked among the top 100 globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.
AUT is very open to collaboration, particularly with several universities in Indonesia. The Chair of the University Senate and the Chair of the Board of Trustees of UNDIP mentioned that UNDIP has several internationalization activities through its World Class University program. These activities could be leveraged to initiate joint programs with Auckland University of Technology, such as visiting lecturer and visiting professor programs at UNDIP. One of the expected outputs of these initiatives includes joint research, joint publications, and university-to-university collaborations.
UNDIP Vice-Rector Prof. Ambariyanto expressed hope that the UNDIP delegation’s visit to these two universities could serve as a gateway to improving the quality of UNDIP’s education and research through internationalization programs and activities to be conducted in partnership with these universities.
