UNDIP, Semarang – The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro successfully held a Character Building event for the Specialist Medical Education Program (Program Pendidikan Dokter Spesialis / PPDS) under the theme “Noble and Valuable PPDS Toward a Golden Indonesia.” The event took place at the Muladi Dome, the Multipurpose Building (GSG) at UNDIP’s Tembalang Campus, attended by 1,054 PPDS and PPDSS students on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
The event featured renowned speaker Dr. (H.C.) H. Ary Ginanjar Agustian, who delivered a session on ESQ Character Building. The occasion was made even more special by the presence of UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who acted as the keynote speaker and officially opened the event.
In his remarks, Prof. Suharnomo emphasized the importance of character development for PPDS students as a tangible contribution to producing excellent human resources to support the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.
“This activity is a commendable effort by the Faculty of Medicine. I hope PPDS students can achieve a balance between Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), and Spiritual Quotient (SQ). Achieving work-life balance means being equally fulfilled at home, in the workplace, and elsewhere,” said the Rector of UNDIP.
Prof. Suharnomo reiterated UNDIP’s commitment to enhancing its dedication to excellence and collaborating with various parties to improve the education system in Indonesia. “We fully support all initiatives by the Faculty of Medicine, and we hope the faculty continues to excel,” he expressed.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP, Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K) welcomed the Character Building initiative, stating, “Through this activity, I hope PPDS and PPDSS students can enhance all their potential to achieve happiness and success.”
Yan Wisnu highlighted the importance of embodying the “seven core virtues” – honesty, responsibility, vision, discipline, cooperation, fairness, and compassion – to foster PPDS and PPDSS students who are dignified and beneficial as they contribute to a Golden Indonesia.
Representing the President Director of RSUP Kariadi, the Director of Human Resources, Education, and Research, Sri Utami, SKM, MARS, expressed appreciation and pride in the event, supporting the preservation of cultural and organizational values to improve the quality and character of graduates at RSUP Kariadi and its partner hospitals.
“The entire hospital community at RSUP Kariadi will continue similar initiatives by providing training to foster individuals who are both dignified and beneficial collectively,” stated Sri Utami.
This Character Building activity is one of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP’s efforts to equip PPDS students not only with clinical competencies but also with ethical values and professionalism as a foundation for providing healthcare services to the community. This commitment reflects the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP’s dedication to improving the quality of PPDS education by emphasizing mental resilience and value-based approaches, supporting the Zero Bullying movement.
Through this initiative, it is expected that PPDS students at the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP will emerge as specialist doctors who are not only academically excellent but also resilient and capable of making significant contributions to the nation.
The event also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP and the ESQ Team, led by Dr. Ary Ginanjar, as a strategic step toward future collaboration. (DHW)
