UNDIP Chairman Board of Trustees, Prof. Mohamad Nasir, Leads PTNBH MWA Forum to Formulate Sustainable Governance Direction

UNDIP, Semarang (May 9, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) hosted the Silaturahmi and Working Meeting of the Forum of Board of Trustees (MWA) for Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH) at Tentrem Hotel, Semarang. The event was chaired by Prof. Mohamad Nasir, M.Si., Akt., Ph.D., Chairman of the PTNBH MWA Forum for the 2025–2026 term and current UNDIP Chairman Board of Trustees. The forum focused on evaluating the strategic achievements of PTNBH institutions and formulating sustainable and integrity-driven policies for university governance.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Nasir expressed gratitude to all attendees and highlighted several pressing issues to be addressed in future policy directions, including: financial management, asset utilization, and human resources.

“Human resource management is critical, especially as many professors who are civil servants are nearing retirement age at 60, while no new civil servant recruitment is planned for PTNBH institutions,” he said.

He also raised concerns about idle assets, such as unutilized land or buildings, and called for better endowment fund management.

Chairman of the PTNBH MWA Forum for the 2024–2025 period, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nuh, DEA, emphasized the importance of gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to education. He noted that education drives innovation and leads to impactful programs that benefit society—aligning with the Ministry of Education’s mission of delivering meaningful, science and technology-driven education.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., addressed Income Generation, Asset Development, and Human Capital within PTNBH institutions. Quoting President Prabowo, he said, “Only nations that master science and technology will become prosperous,” underscoring PTNBH’s role as a driving force for national progress in collaboration with industry.

Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian, M.A., Ph.D., Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) and current Minister of Home Affairs, emphasized the crucial role of local governments in supporting PTNBH development. He outlined key contributions, including grant allocations, infrastructure support, scholarships for high school/equivalent graduates to college, capacity-building programs for local government staff led by PTNBH, and collaborative research and innovation initiatives.

Minister of Health and Chair of the Board of Trustees at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Budi Gunadi Sadikin, discussed creative funding strategies, particularly through alumni network engagement.

Deputy Minister of Finance Prof. Dr. Anggito Abimanyu, M.Sc., highlighted challenges in increasing revenue, asset empowerment, and growing PTNBH endowment funds. He emphasized that the complexity of higher education funding requires broad autonomy, which PTNBH institutions were explicitly designed to address through the Tri Dharma of higher education.

The event concluded with a leadership handover ceremony, with Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nuh, DEA (Chair of the Board of Trustees at ITS), formally passing the role to Prof. Mohamad Nasir of UNDIP as the PTNBH MWA Forum Chairman for the 2025–2026 term.
