UNDIP to Lead Eight Universities Hosting the 2025 National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) in Jawa Tengah

UNDIP, Semarang (August 27, 2025) – Jawa Tengah Province has officially been named host of the 19th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS XIX) in 2025. The biennial event, which brings together top student athletes from across Indonesia, will take place in the cities of Semarang and Surakarta from September 19 to 27, 2025. To stage the prestigious games, the provincial government is partnering with eight universities in Jawa Tengah: Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS), Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS), Universitas Wahid Hasyim (UNWAHAS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS).

Universitas Diponegoro has been appointed coordinator of the eight universities hosting POMNAS XIX in 2025. A total of 17 sports will be contested, including athletics, basketball, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, badminton, chess, karate, archery, rock climbing, pencak silat, pétanque, swimming, sepak takraw, taekwondo, tarung derajat, tennis, and wushu. Four exhibition sports will also be featured: kabaddi, pickleball, roller skating, and woodball.

UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., said UNDIP is prepared to give its best as coordinator and co-host of the games, which carry the theme “Move, Achieve, and Impact.”

“POMNAS is not only about competing for medals, but also about creating joy and strengthening friendships among students from across Indonesia. Together with seven other universities in Jawa Tengah, we will ensure the best venues, accommodations, and services so athletes, officials, and guests can enjoy a positive experience,” Suharnomo said.

Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, UNDIP Vice Rector for Academics and Student Affairs and Chair of the POMNAS XIX Organizing Committee, said the eight universities have jointly formed the central organizing committee, which includes university leaders, BAPOMI of Jawa Tengah region (Indonesian Student Sports Board), lecturers, students, partners, and the private sector, with full support from the provincial government.

The committee has designated UNDIP’s Muladi Dome Multipurpose Hall as the venue for the opening ceremony on September 19, 2025. Each host university is currently preparing sports facilities and infrastructure for the competitions.

Prof. Heru expressed gratitude to the Governor of Jawa Tengah and the government through the Youth and Sports Office (Disporapar), the Rectors and leaders of the eight host universities, and all committee members for their contributions and collaboration.
