ODM UNDIP 2025: Cinta Laura Encourages New Students to Be Independent, Creative, and Visionary

UNDIP, Semarang (August 24, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro welcomed more than 14,000 new students for the 2025/2026 academic year through the Orientasi Diponegoro Muda (ODM) 2025, held Saturday morning, August 23, 2025, at UNDIP Stadium in Tembalang. The event marked the peak of new student reception, officially beginning their journey as part of the UNDIP community.

The celebration, which the Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia also attended, featured its most anticipated session, “Dipscussion” — an interactive dialogue forum on “Beyond Saving: Managing Money, Mind, and the Future of Visionary Students.” Public figure Cinta Laura Kiehl joined as a speaker, sharing insights on the importance of independence for young people, especially new UNDIP students entering adulthood.

Cinta Laura emphasized that college is a critical moment to build healthy habits, from financial management to mindset. She highlighted the influence of FOMO and YOLO lifestyles, which often blur the line between needs and wants, and urged students to cultivate empathy in financial decisions.

She encouraged students to set priorities, manage money wisely, and build confidence in pursuing their dreams. “Being visionary starts with small, consistent steps,” she said, drawing loud applause.

Cinta also reminded students that youth is the best time to sharpen critical thinking, expand friendships, and embrace diverse perspectives. In today’s increasingly global and competitive world, she said, success requires individuals who are critical, creative, adaptive, and capable of cross-cultural collaboration.

“The ability to adapt and respect differences will be the main asset in navigating an increasingly global and competitive world,” Cinta added. Her message inspired UNDIP’s new students to prepare for challenges in both professional and personal life.

The program closed with a performance by Maliq & D’Essentials, which created a festive atmosphere and strengthened the sense of togetherness among new students before they begin classes at their respective faculties this week.

ODM 2025 proved that UNDIP is not only preparing students with classroom knowledge but also nurturing character, creativity, and soft skills. From Tembalang, the spirit of Diponegoro Muda is now set to echo UNDIP’s vision of being “Noble and Valuable” for Indonesia and the world. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ DHW, ed. Nurul)
