SEMARANG, Indonesia (September 20, 2025) – Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. joined Director General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi, S.T., M.Eng. in the 5K Fun Run, part of the 19th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS XIX) Jawa Tengah 2025 series, held at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The opening ceremony of POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025 had taken place the previous day, officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
Alongside UNIMUS Rector Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, M.Pd., and POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025 Organizing Committee Chair Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., the Rector of UNDIP, accompanied Prof. Khairul in flagging off around 400 participants. The runners included students, lecturers, education staff from UNIMUS, and members of the public. The event started at the courtyard of the UNIMUS Shared Lecture Building (GKB 3) and covered a five-kilometer route around the campus.
The Fun Run was organized as part of the POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025 series to foster sportsmanship, solidarity, and community impact. Participants ran through a lively UNIMUS campus route that emphasized the spirit of unity and wellness.
Director General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi emphasized the importance of striking a balance between academics and physical fitness. “Students are the nation’s golden generation. It’s not enough for them to excel in the classroom — they must also be physically fit and resilient. Sports are an essential part of building that character,” he said.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, expressed appreciation to UNIMUS for hosting the Fun Run 5K Road to POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025. “The spirit cultivated here will nurture outstanding athletes who are both intelligent and healthy,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025 Organizing Committee Chair, Prof. Heru Susanto, who is also UNDIP’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, said the Fun Run was expected to add cheer and energy to the POMNAS athletes.
