68th Anniversary Fun Walk at UNDIP: Rector Encourages the Academic Community to Strengthen the Spirit of Innovation and Togetherness

UNDIP, Semarang (November 1, 2025) – In celebration of its 68th Anniversary, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held a Jalan Sehat (Fun Walk) event on Saturday morning, November 1, 2025, at Widya Puraya Field, Tembalang Campus. Organized by the UNDIP’s Faculty of Law, the event was attended by lecturers, education staff, students, and banking partners, all of whom joined to foster a sense of togetherness and collegial spirit within the campus.

The activity began with a group exercise, followed by a fun walk covering a route of approximately 1.2 km around the main campus area—from Widya Puraya Field, Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Office, parking area of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, ex-KPRI building, the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, FPIK, Anak Panah Café, and back to Widya Puraya. The event not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also strengthened solidarity among the academic community through a spirit of unity and sustainability.

In his remarks, UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed gratitude for the various achievements and innovations the university has attained and appreciated the synergy of the entire campus community in continuously contributing meaningfully to society.

“We should be grateful for UNDIP’s remarkable achievements. Our desalination machine, developed by UNDIP innovators and capable of converting seawater into drinking water, has gained national attention from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and will soon be deployed nationwide. Our students have also achieved extraordinary milestones, including winning first place in the national Pilmapres for both diploma and undergraduate levels, innovating in energy-efficient electric vehicles, and excelling at the national Qur’an Recitation Competition (MTQ). These prove that UNDIP excels not only in research but also in providing concrete solutions to national issues,” said the Rector.

Prof. Suharnomo further emphasized that the spirit of innovation and collaboration must remain UNDIP’s driving force in shaping the nation’s future. “We continue to transform into a world-class research university. Insha Allah, in the upcoming QS World University Rankings update, UNDIP is expected to record a significant improvement. Let us maintain synergy among lecturers, students, education staff, alumni, and partners to make UNDIP ever more dignified and impactful,” he added.

The event became even more special with the handover of the Green Building Certification for the UNDIP Tower in Tembalang from the Semarang City Government. The certificate was symbolically presented by Ir. Ferry Kuntoaji, S.T., Acting Head of the City Spatial Planning Office, on behalf of the Mayor of Semarang. He conveyed the Mayor’s greetings and high appreciation for UNDIP’s strong commitment to creating an environmentally conscious campus.

“UNDIP’s green building design is the first exemplary building in Semarang City, achieving top recognition for eco-friendly construction planning. This is an extraordinary accomplishment and tangible proof of UNDIP’s commitment to making Semarang greater and more sustainable,” said Ferry.

Responding to this, Prof. Suharnomo expressed pride in the positive collaboration between UNDIP and the Semarang City Government toward realizing a greener, more sustainable city.

In addition to the recognition from the city government, Bank BRI also provided exceptional support by donating one operational car, two motorcycles, and two smartphones to UNDIP. The symbolic handover was conducted by Marselia Herma Hapsari, Transaction Manager of Bank BRI Semarang, as part of a strategic collaboration between the education and banking sectors. “This collaboration represents strong synergy between BRI and UNDIP. We hope our contribution will enhance campus operations, improve services for the academic community, and further drive UNDIP’s advancement and achievements,” said Marselia.

The joyful spirit of togetherness was further enlivened by door prizes and entertainment, which participants enthusiastically welcomed. One student shared, “This event was delightful and meaningful. Beyond being healthy, it brought us closer to everyone across campus,” the student said.

The 68th Anniversary Fun Walk embodies the Diktisaintek Berdampak program, integrating the values of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. UNDIP remains committed to fostering a healthy, productive, and inclusive campus environment, aligning with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

With the spirit of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP”, the university reaffirms its role as an excellent higher education institution—one that excels not only in academics and research but also delivers real contributions to society, the environment, and the nation’s future.
