UNDIP, Semarang (November 9, 2025) – Behind the solemn atmosphere of Universitas Diponegoro’s 180th Graduation Ceremony (Phase II) on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Muladi Dome Multipurpose Hall, lies an inspiring story of a graduate who pursued his academic journey with unwavering consistency and commitment. Faishal Najwan Ahmad, a graduate of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, earned the Cum Laude distinction with a GPA of 3.84, completing his studies in 4 years, 1 month, and 16 days. He began his journey at UNDIP through the SNMPTN admission route in 2021.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering, Faishal began his professional career as a Quantity Surveyor at China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The position demands not only precision but also integrity and a strong sense of responsibility in supporting large-scale infrastructure projects. For him, the academic foundation and character he developed during his studies serve as crucial assets in facing global challenges in the construction industry.
“During my time at UNDIP, I didn’t just learn theories and technical knowledge; I was also given space to build character, leadership, and the courage to explore many things. UNDIP became the starting point of my journey to grow and make a difference,” said Faishal.
He stated that having a role in the construction sector is a way to make a tangible contribution to the nation’s progress. “I want the knowledge I’ve gained to benefit society at large. For me, that is the true essence of being an academic,” he added.
Throughout his studies, Faishal actively honed both academic and non-academic abilities. He participated in various student activities, including the UNDIP Civil Engineering Student Association and the Civil Engineering Club of Expeditious Technology (CIRCLE). He also served as a teaching assistant and joined the Kampus Merdeka MSIB Program Batch 7 at PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA). These experiences broadened his perspective on scientific dynamics, collaboration, and readiness to face the demands of the professional world.
In addition to organizational involvement, Faishal also achieved notable success at the national level. In 2024, his team won 2nd place in the National Bridge Design Competition (NBDC) as part of the Civil Engineering Festival organized by the Jakarta State Polytechnic. The competition tested participants’ technical, analytical, and creative skills in bridge structure design — an area of expertise for Faishal.
His greatest motivation to keep achieving is his passion for lifelong learning. He sees competitions not merely as a contest of victory, but as a process to broaden perspectives and strengthen resilience. “Competition is a space for growth. What matters most isn’t just the result, but how we develop through the process,” he emphasized.
As an outstanding graduate, Faishal embraces UNDIP’s tagline, “Noble and Valuable UNDIP,” as a moral compass in every step he takes.
“Being dignified means upholding integrity, ethics, and professionalism, while being beneficial means applying what I’ve learned to bring positive impact to society. Every achievement is not only a personal pride but also a responsibility to uphold UNDIP’s good name and inspire others,” he shared.
He also believes that students play a strategic role in accelerating UNDIP’s transformation into a world-class university through achievements, research, innovation, and impactful community service initiatives.
In closing, Faishal encourages students to keep exploring themselves and step outside their comfort zones. “Keep learning, growing, and striving to be useful, no matter how small the impact may seem. Be a person who not only excels but also brings positive change to the environment. With integrity and perseverance, we can become a generation that is noble, valuable, and globally competitive,” he concluded.
Faishal’s story exemplifies the spirit of UNDIP’s young generation — excellent, ethical, and dedicated to contributing to the nation. His journey stands as proof that the spirit of “Diktisaintek Berdampak” is not just a slogan, but a genuine commitment to making meaningful contributions to the country and the world.
