Winning 5 Awards, Diponegoro University Choir Becomes Overall Champion at The 8th Cantata Macau International Choir Festival and Competition 2025

UNDIP, Macau (December 3, 2025) – The Diponegoro University Choir (DUC) achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the 8th Cantata Macau International Choir Festival and Competition 2025 by winning the Grand Prix Champion title. The international choral competition, held on November 28–30, 2025, at St. Augustine Church & Escola Sao Paulo, Macau, was attended by top choir teams from various countries.

Diponegoro University Choir delivered a stunning performance, excelling in musicality, artistic interpretation, and ensemble cohesion. Their efforts resulted in multiple achievements in several categories at the competition, as follows:

This series of achievements reflects DUC’s strong commitment to consistently maintaining artistic quality through musical and vocal performances. This commitment is rooted in DUC’s long-standing synergy as one of the oldest Student Activity Units (UKM) at Universitas Diponegoro. Established on October 15, 1972, DUC consists of active students from various faculties and disciplines who share a passion for vocal arts and musical performance.

DUC carries a vision and mission to develop students’ artistic competence, strengthen organizational skills, and enhance character building through choral activities. Its achievements span various levels and categories, with participation in regional, national, and international competitions that have brought honor to Universitas Diponegoro.

DUC’s journey toward the 8th Cantata Macau International Choir Festival and Competition 2025 began with an intensive training process covering vocal techniques, harmony development, musical interpretation, and repertoire refinement. DUC also successfully held a pre-competition concert titled “SING FOREVER 2025” on November 23, 2025, at the Liem Liang Peng Theater, Semarang City.

The concert showcased the competition repertoire to the public, gauged performance readiness, and bolstered the confidence of DUC members ahead of the international competition. Under the leadership of Conductor and Choir Director Jefry Franklin Bode, PSM UNDIP presented performances in three music categories: sacred, mixed, and folklore.
