Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery, UNDIP’s Fourth D-DART Volunteer Team Assists Agam Regency Communities

UNDIP, Agam (December 26–27, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro reaffirmed its commitment to disaster response through the activities of its Fourth Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART), which carried out a series of humanitarian service programs in several disaster-affected areas of Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, activities began with the packaging and distribution of logistics and medical supplies for delivery to volunteer posts and healthcare facilities. Upon completion, volunteers proceeded to their assigned locations. They conducted formal handovers of logistics and medical equipment to the Agam District Command Post and two houses designated as D-DART UNDIP volunteer posts.

Operations that day were divided into two leading teams. The first team was assigned to the Maninjau area, while the second provided services at Palembayan Community Health Center. As Maninjau did not conduct medical examinations, activities there focused on psychosocial assistance.

In Maninjau, the team—comprising dr. Muhammad Satya Arrif Zulhani, Agum Saputra, Muhammad Seno Reynaldi, and Riva Rahayu—provided psychosocial services to 16 children and 12 adults. Children participated in art therapy activities such as coloring and storytelling, while adults received psychospiritual support and mindfulness exercises to support post-disaster mental recovery. The team also handed over medicines and consumables to Maninjau Community Health Center with formal documentation.

Meanwhile, the Palembayan Community Health Center team, comprising multidisciplinary medical personnel, provided consultations and medical examinations, and delivered medicines to the local health center. All activities were documented administratively and visually to ensure service accountability.

Overall, the medical services provided by the Fourth D-DART UNDIP Volunteer Team addressed various health conditions, including upper respiratory tract infections, digestive disorders, hypertension, skin diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and psychiatric conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder and non-organic insomnia. The team also conducted a home visit for a patient with residual schizophrenia.

In psychosocial services, assistance reached 27 children and 21 adults in Palembayan and 16 children and 12 adults in Maninjau. Support focused on emotional stabilization, psychospiritual strengthening, and identification of survivors’ positive potentials to support post-disaster recovery.

Previously, on Friday, December 26, 2025, the Fourth D-DART UNDIP Volunteer Team conducted cross-institutional coordination with several community health centers, health posts, and the Agam Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). This coordination focused on mapping healthcare and psychosocial service needs, distributing processed food aid from UNDIP Jepara, and strengthening volunteer administration.

On the same day, the team also provided medical and psychosocial services at Koto Alam Community Health Center, Malalak Community Health Center, Jorong Limo Badak Malalak Utara Post, and Maninjau, benefiting hundreds of recipients across various age groups, including children, adults, and vulnerable populations.

These activities underscore UNDIP’s active role as a higher education institution that focuses not only on education and research but also on remaining present within communities during emergencies. Through integrated medical and psychosocial approaches, UNDIP strives to ensure that post-disaster recovery addresses not only physical health but also mental health and social resilience within communities.
