FISIP UNDIP Stadium General: Synergy Between Islamic Boarding Schools and Universities to Achieve Sustainable Economy

UNDIP, Semarang (9/03) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP UNDIP), recently held a Stadium General titled “From Pesantren to Civilization: Community Empowerment Strategies for a Sustainable Economy” on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The event, held at the FIMENA Auditorium, Building A, 3rd Floor, FISIP UNDIP Tembalang Campus, served as a strategic forum to formulate the role of educational institutions—both universities and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren)—in community development. This initiative reflects the vision of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP”, emphasizing not only academic excellence but also real contributions to societal welfare and national civilization.

The event was attended by prominent figures from various regions, including the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., as well as regional leaders, such as the Regent of Tegal, H. Ischak Maulana Rohman, S.H.; the Deputy Mayor of Tegal, Hj. Tazkiyatul Muthmainnah, S.K.M., M.Kes.; Deputy Regent of Semarang, Dra. Hj. Nur Arifah; Deputy Regent of Pekalongan H. Sukirman, S.S., M.S. Representatives from legislative bodies were also present, including the Chair of the DPRD Kendal, Mahfud Sodiq, S.Pd.I; Chair of DPRD Batang, H. Suudi, S.Ag.; Chair of DPRD Tegal, H. Wasbun Jauhara Khalim, S.E.; Chair of DPRD Demak, H. Zayinul Fatah, S.E.; and the Vice Chair of the DPRD of Central Java, H. Sarif Abdillah, S.Pd.I.

In his remarks, the Dean of FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, expressed his hopes for the forum. “Hopefully, this activity brings positive momentum for all of us amid the current challenging and uncertain conditions,” he said, highlighting the urgency of discussing community empowerment in today’s dynamic socio-economic environment.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, who presented various university innovations aligned with the vision of societal benefit. He emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration, including partnerships with religious educational institutions, and expressed UNDIP’s openness to collaborating with pesantren in developing empowerment programs.

“This nation needs many good hands working together to help solve the problems faced by society,” he stated.

The main session featured K.H. Muhammad Yusuf Chudlori, caretaker of the Tegalrejo Islamic Boarding School in Magelang, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he elaborated on the strategic role of pesantren as pillars of civilization, emphasizing their inseparable relationship with society. “Pesantren grow together with the community; they cannot be separated from it,” he said.

K.H. Muhammad Yusuf Chudlori also highlighted that, while religious education is a core objective, the most essential aspects are character and mental development. Additionally, he encouraged students to emulate the entrepreneurial spirit of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), become independent, and contribute to the community’s economic empowerment.

This Stadium General serves as concrete evidence of UNDIP’s commitment to bridging academic theory with local wisdom rooted in pesantren traditions. By upholding the spirit of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP”, the collaboration between universities and pesantren is expected to produce change agents who are not only intellectually capable but also mentally resilient and socially responsible.
