Advancing Toward a World-Class University, UNDIP’s Faculty of Science and Mathematics Invites Organic Analysis Expert from Universiti Malaysia Sabah

UNDIP, Semarang (19/3) – The UNDIP Global Class (UGC) program at Universitas Diponegoro continues to strengthen international academic collaboration in the field of chemistry by hosting a guest lecture. This time, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP, invited a speaker from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysia, as part of the Organic Analysis course.

Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Mohd Sani bin Sarjadi from Universiti Malaysia Sabah delivered a guest lecture titled “High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC): Principles and Applications in Organic Analysis.” The session explored the fundamental principles and applications of HPLC, a widely used technique in modern chemical research, particularly for analyzing organic compounds and natural products.

The lecture was held last week, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, and was conducted online. A follow-up session on the application of LC-MS in organic compound analysis is scheduled for April 2026. This guest lecture is part of the academic activities within the Organic Analysis course taught by Prof. Dr. Bambang Cahyono at the Department of Chemistry, UNDIP.

According to Prof. Bambang Cahyono, the activity is expected to provide students with international insights into modern analytical methods widely applied in both research and industry. It also offers students new perspectives drawn from the academic and research experiences of experts from partner universities abroad.

The collaboration between the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah has been established through various academic initiatives, including student exchanges, collaborative research, and guest lectures by faculty members from both institutions, thereby advancing education and research in chemistry.

Documentation of guest lecture activities by Universitas Diponegoro lecturers at Universiti Malaysia Sabah in the previous period as part of the academic collaboration, which is now continuing through online guest lecture activities.

This activity is also part of UNDIP’s broader effort to internationalize higher education through the UNDIP Global Class program, which promotes cross-border academic interaction. (Public Communication/UNDIP/FSM Team)
