Samuel Octovianus Dimara, Sp.M., an alumnus of the Ophthalmology Specialist Program at FK UNDIP, has become an inspiring figure driving change through eye health (ophthalmology) services, particularly for communities in regions with limited access, such as Papua.
dr. Samuel acknowledged that his education at FK UNDIP played a fundamental role in shaping his professional resilience. During his specialist training in Semarang City, he was not only equipped with precise surgical skills in ophthalmology but also trained within an academic environment that integrates theory, intensive practice, and character development. This preparation has enabled him to face complex medical challenges in the field.
“Education at FK UNDIP shaped me into an adaptive and principled individual. The support from highly competent lecturers and a curriculum that remains relevant to advancements in medical science has given me the confidence to serve anywhere, including Papua, where healthcare facilities are limited,” said Dr. Samuel.
In practice, Dr. Samuel is known as a responsive doctor with strong empathy. His success in performing various eye surgeries is the result of a long process at FK UNDIP that emphasizes a balance between hard medical skills and soft humanitarian skills.
“In the operating room, precision is absolute. But beyond that, moral responsibility and empathy for patients are the core values emphasized during my education at FK UNDIP. These professional values are what I bring into every service I provide to the people of Papua,” he added.
