UNDIP, Semarang (3/5) – Students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) have successfully made proud achievements on the international stage. The “Indonesia 1” team won the Bronze Prize in the competition titled Alliance Students’ Venture Forum (ASVF) 2026. The competition was held on April 1-4 in Seoul, South Korea.
ASVF is a prestigious entrepreneurship competition organized by The Korea Economic Daily in collaboration with KT&G. In this competition, the team consisting of Novi Istiyani, Nikken Permata Rahmasari, and Risala Sujat Swara initiated a pilot called Biohidrogeno.
Novi Istiyani, one of the team members explained, Biohidrogeno is a product that can convert organic waste from households and restaurants into clean energy sources. Through this product, Team Indonesia 1 introduces economic solutions that are more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
“We are converting organic waste from households and restaurants into clean energy sources. This innovation comes as a circular economy solution, which converts waste loads into sustainable energy assets, while supporting decarbonization at the community scale,” said Novi.

She added that this idea won because it brought a less popular issue, namely environmental issues. By bringing up the topic, the Indonesian team 1 succeeded to defeat various startups from various countries such as Turkey, Mongolia, and Taiwan.
“In our opinion, the key is in the right positioning. While the majority of other teams focus on digital innovations such as AI, we choose a different path with a focus on environmental issues,” she added.
Novi admitted that she was proud of this achievement. At first she did not think her team could get a champion in this competition.
“From the beginning, our main goal was to look for experience. We feel that we’ve had enough of what we have been able to do during this activity. And getting an award is a bonus achievement out of our plan,” explained Novi.
She hopes that this victory can be a trigger for her team to continue to develop various innovations that have a real impact for the society and the surrounding environment.
“We do not want to stop here. Our hope for the future is to consistently continue to create innovations that focus on environmental and circular economy issues. We want the technology we develop to have a real impact,” she hoped. This achievement shows that UNDIP has produced an innovative generation that is ready to bring useful technology to the society.
