UNDIP Appreciated the Role of PAUD Teachers by Improving Skills and Understanding of Character Education for Early Childhood

Diponegoro University – Semarang. The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Diponegoro University held an Early Childhood Character Education Seminar for PAUD Teachers on Saturday (25/2) at the Prof. Soedarto, S.H. Building, Undip Tembalang. This event is a form of concern and appreciation for PAUD teachers.

In his remarks, the Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., said that Undip really appreciates PAUD teachers and this activity is a form of respect for PAUD teachers.

“The children’s success is greatly supported by PAUD teachers who teach compassion in subtle language. If we talk about charity, then one of them is pious children. The students who are well educated by teachers are charities that never stop,” said the Rector.

Furthermore, Prof. Yos said about the Javanese proverb Pager Mangkok Luwih Kuat Tinimbang Pager Tembok. It is likened to that like building a house fence where relationships are formed by giving and loving each other will strengthen brotherhood and relationships between people. Building a harmonious relationship with the surrounding environment will provide comfort and serenity to the lives of the residents of the house. This is an illustration for PAUD teachers and their students that the closeness and affection that is built will be a way of safety and success for the future generation of future leaders.

On the occasion, the Head of LPPM Undip, Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T. reported that the PAUD invited to this event were PAUD around the Undip Tembalang campus from 2 sub-districts (Tembalang Sub-District and Banyumanik Sub-District) covering 23 sub-districts.

“Today’s activity is an initial activity, in the next few years it is planned to be gradually followed up with special training for PAUD teachers to improve their competence, capacity and capabilities. The objectives of the activity program include increasing the understanding and ability of PAUD teachers in understanding the psychological characteristics of AUD (Early Childhood), increasing understanding of PAUD teachers in their ability to assess AUD in the perspective of learning through play, increasing understanding of the philosophy of independent learning which is not yet fully understood by PAUD teachers and providing PAUD teacher with skills in creating fun and meaningful learning as the core of the independent curriculum, especially in skills for making open questions to improve AUD’s critical thinking skills,” explained Prof. Jamari.

The guest speakers are Dr. Eko Setiawan, S.Pd. I., M.Pd. (Lecturer at the Islamic University of Malang) and Dra. Darosy Endah Hyoscyamina, M.Pd. (Lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology Undip). In closing statement, Dr. Eko said a professional teacher is a teacher who does not stop learning. Dr. Darosi said that it is never too late to learn.

“Let’s reflect and introspect together, always pray, try, be sincere, trust, be patient, and be grateful. Let’s be fun teachers, educate PAUD children to be independent, learn and keep learning,” concluded Darosy. (Lin ed. Ut – Public Relations)
