UNDIP, Semarang (October 17, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held its 68th Anniversary Ceremony under the theme “Innovation for the Nation: When Innovation Meets Impact” at the Muladi Dome multipurpose hall, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Friday, October 17, 2025. The event served as a moment of reflection on UNDIP’s journey — not merely focusing on national and international academic reputation, but also reaffirming the university’s commitment to creating tangible impact through high-quality research and innovation that benefits society.
The main program featured a scientific oration by Prof. Joga Dharma Setiawan, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., President Director of PT LEN Industri, who presented “Innovation Collaboration for Competitive Advantage in Indonesia’s Defense Industry.” In his address, Prof. Joga elaborated on the vision, mission, and targets to become one of the Top 50 Global Defence Companies.
As the state-owned defense industry holding company (DEFEND ID), PT LEN Industri envisions becoming an advanced, strong, independent, and globally competitive defense industry. Its mission includes building national innovation collaboration; developing technological independence and competitiveness; becoming part of the global industrial supply chain through strategic alliances; and acting as a key driver of domestic industrial ecosystem growth.
Prof. Joga, a professor in Control Systems from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, also praised UNDIP’s rapidly advancing and competitive research. Universitas Diponegoro has become a research partner of PT LEN Industri in fields such as artificial intelligence, satellite and sensing technologies, robotics and electronics for unmanned autonomous systems, and cybersecurity.
UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., stated in his remarks that the 68th Anniversary reaffirmed UNDIP’s commitment to being a solution-driven university that addresses various societal challenges. UNDIP contributes to national development through the three pillars of higher education (Tri Dharma) — education, research, and community service. The university’s dedication was recently recognized through the detikJateng–Jogja Award 2025, naming UNDIP as a “Accelerated Development Catalyst Campus.”
“UNDIP not only focuses on academic achievements but also on delivering real impact to the community. Through research and innovation, we strive to provide solutions to various national challenges,” said the Rector. “The number of UNDIP lecturers listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University increased from seven in 2024 to eight in 2025,” he added, noting that UNDIP’s growing international collaborations continue to strengthen its position as a World-Class University.
On this occasion, the Rector also introduced 30 UNDIP innovations from remarkable lecturers as listed below.
