Library of Higher Education Forum (FPPTI) arranged a National Work Meeting (Rakernas) themed “Library Performance Measurement: Metrics and Evaluation in the Digital Era” through Zoom meeting on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024. This event was attended by more than 350 Central and Regional FPPTI personnel participants.
The speakers of this event were Dr. Adin Bondar, S.Sos., M.Si., the Deputy of Library Resources Development of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia; Dr. Lukman, ST., M. Hum., Institutional Director of The Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology; Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D., the Vice-Rector of Business and Communication od Diponegoro University; and Mariyah, S.Sos., M.Hum., the Chairman of FPPTI.
One of the main points of the meeting is the necessity of libraries in higher education to build a paradigm for creating accomplished human resources accompanied by the utilization of bibliometric analysis. The result of the bibliometric analysis could give a statistical outlook on library performance and its influence on educational growth.
Given the limited number of accredited libraries, the speaker also highlighted the importance of overseeing the national and educational standards to improve the library’s quality and service. In Industry 4.0, using automation technologies and machines has become a trend. Technology proficiency has become a specialized skill that must be learned to devise a breakthrough and creativity.
Digital literacy also became the focal point of the discussion, including data literacy and technology. It became one of the topics of the Indonesia FPPTI meeting as an effort to bridge the digital gap between librarians and library visitors. Furthermore, it underlined the importance of enhancing the love of reading and benefiting from digital access to improve the community’s quality of life.
“A digital gap is a challenge we still face, especially in the librarians’ circle. Thus, it is crucial to support the students so they can access and utilize digital resources complementing their needs,” Prof. Budi Setiyono said.
The digital gap must be solved with synergy, contribution, participation, and regeneration of all library organization members. The discussion at the end of the meeting focused on the technology usage strategy, online data management, and the measures to guide students in fulfilling their portfolios and digital resources.
Therefore, the FPPTI Zoom meeting 2024 has successfully become the platform for the library of higher education stakeholders to share knowledge, experience, and strategy to face challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the digital era.
