Bank BCA, through Bakti BCA, organized a public lecture titled BCA Berbagi Ilmu in commemoration of National Education Day 2024. The BCA Berbagi Ilmu event at Diponegoro University focused on the theme “Survival Leaderships: Facing Uncertainties,” which was successfully held on Thursday, May 7, 2024, at Prof. Soedarto, S.H. Building UNDIP. The event was attended by the UNDIP Rector, Vice Rectors, and Deans from various faculties/schools. The speakers at this public lecture were Armand W. Hartono (Vice President Director of BCA) and Nicholas Saputra (Bakti BCA Ambassador), moderated by Hera F. Haryn (Executive Vice President of BCA).
The UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., welcomed the BCA Shares Knowledge event. “The topic discussed is interesting and provides valuable knowledge from genuine practitioners. I hope everyone will remain enthusiastic until the end, get the insight, and follow their path to success,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
Widjaja Stephen, Head of BCA Regional Office 2, stated that BCA supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia and is committed to development that benefits society now and in the future. “We collaborate with many parties, this time with UNDIP through a public lecture. This is an implementation of the Bakti BCA education pillar, providing knowledge from practitioners who share practical and applicable knowledge,” said Widjaja Stephen.
Hera F. Haryn (Executive Vice President of BCA), as the moderator, led an interactive discussion on the global economy amid changing times. The first speaker, Armand W. Hartono (Vice President Director of BCA), presented material titled “Survival Leadership Facing Uncertainties. Brand on a Mission: The Power of Purpose.” Armand conveyed that the most essential thing in life is life itself. “Prioritize the ability to live in any situation, strengthen character and language skills, and seek opportunities,” he said.
According to Armand W. Hartono, no one knows what life holds, and uncertainties are influenced by at least three factors: people, process, and technology. Regarding how to face the challenges of the times in the banking world, Armand revealed that the banking world must also be willing to follow technological developments and continuously improve. “How we live depends on ourselves, so continuously enhance survival skills,” he advised UNDIP students.
The discussion continued with the second speaker, Nicholas Saputra (Bakti BCA Ambassador), who stated that change will always occur over time, and we must find ways to survive. Reflecting on the theme of this public lecture, Nicholas said, “One of the most frequent crises is an economic crisis, but there is always a turning point to rise again. Good endurance is needed to survive, and one of the key points is education. With a good education, even though jobs may vary, one can still adapt.”
The event continued with a Q&A session, during which UNDIP students directly asked questions to the speakers. Hera F. Haryn concluded the discussion on “Facing Uncertainties” by emphasizing collaboration for progress and not prioritizing ego for mutual benefit.
At the end of the event, Armand W. Hartono advised students to join communities and expand their networks, as this is where you will meet people who might help. Being in a good ecosystem, people can learn that shortcomings can be improved. Nicholas Saputra also advised that today’s public lecture participants use their privilege as students. The knowledge gained from the campus, and discussions with peers is preparation for becoming part of a larger society. (Titis-Public Relations)
