UNDIP, Semarang (12/8) – The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), successfully organized the Adjunct Professor Program through a joint funding initiative between the 2026 World Class University (WCU) Program and Fulbright, inviting a Fulbright Specialist from Purdue University, United States, Assoc. Prof. Anne Traynor, Ph.D. Held from July 13–25, 2026, the program was part of a strategic effort to strengthen academic and research capacity, particularly in psychometrics and research methodology, while expanding international collaboration networks.
Jati Ariati, Ph.D., the person in charge of the program, said the initiative provided a valuable opportunity for the academic community while opening avenues to support institutional development. “We are very pleased to collaborate with Dr. Traynor and have the opportunity to learn directly from her,” she said.
The program began with Assoc. Prof. Anne Traynor, Ph.D., serving as a speaker at the 8th PSYCHE International Summer Course, “Fostering Sustainable Wellbeing through Ecopsychology and Cultural Heritage,” on July 17, 2026. On the occasion, she delivered a session entitled “Data Collection Methods in the Social and Behavioral Sciences.”
The program also included academic mentoring through a joint supervision scheme for a psychology master’s student whose research focuses on developing psychological instruments. During her visit, she also supervised revisions to scientific articles in discussions with lecturers from the Faculty of Psychology. The activities also laid the foundation for joint research between the Faculty of Psychology at UNDIP and Purdue University, resulting in indexed international publications. The discussions further opened opportunities for subsequent research collaborations involving more researchers from both institutions.
“I was impressed by the faculty’s shared commitment to conducting research that advances their University’s social mission,” said Dr. Traynor.
To strengthen methodological and data analysis capabilities, Assoc. Prof. Anne Traynor, Ph.D., served as a speaker at the workshop “Introduction to Measurement Invariance” on July 20, 2026. The workshop was attended by students and lecturers from various faculties at UNDIP to gain an understanding of measurement invariance and its application in ensuring measurement equivalence across groups.
Another contribution came through the workshop “Editorial and Reviewer Excellence: Advancing Quality in Academic Review” on July 23, 2026, which was attended by journal editorial teams across UNDIP. As an associate editorial board member of the journal Educational Assessment, she shared insights into journal management, editorial processes, and review practices to support efforts to improve the quality of UNDIP journals and enhance their competitiveness internationally.
The series of activities also supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening academic capacity, developing competencies in psychometrics and research methodology, and fostering collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology at UNDIP and Purdue University. This initiative contributes to improving research quality and productivity, developing scientific publications, and expanding international academic networks through knowledge exchange and joint research, while further strengthening UNDIP’s role in the global academic community.
